Beautifully printed and clearly set out. Used this for a trip to the Amalfi coast and it highlighted some hidden gems to explore. Also included some good restaurant listings and tips. Excellent coverage of all areas, including Pompeii and Vesuvius.

I'm quite a fan of the Time Out series when it comes to city guides. This guide to Rome was very good, we tried out some of the recommended restaruants and also found our hotel through this book, which was an excellent choice. The biggest complaint would probably be the maps.Sometimes it seemed to be a bit tricky to find what you were looking for.Also on a few occassions it appeared that eating places were not where the guide book said they would be or they were closed when the guide said they would be open for business.

I have to agree with the review submitted by Basil. The editing of this book is so poor as to make it virtually unreadable - idiosyncratic punctuation is putting it mildly. The author and/or editor have no idea how to use commas and parentheses, the book is littered with spelling mistakes and there is inconsistent spelling of place names. Furthermore, although the introduction says that the author's last trip abroad was to visit Naples and that he died in 1999 shortly after completion of the manuscript, there are comments, descriptions & references in the book which tend to suggest that the information was compiled rather earlier than the late 1990's. I've been to Naples, Sorrento and Capri and this book helped me a lot finding the hot spots on the zone. Places to see, prices, transportation, maps, history facts... it is very complete and easy to use.

This is THE guide to Naples and Campania for foodies and people who are interested in food and wine. It is a veritable encyclopaedia, with interesting details about hundreds of restaurants, food shops, wine bars and wine shops, agricultural establishments (vineyards, olive oil producers, etc). It turned a chilly week in March into a wonderful foodie holiday. It is also full of beautiful photographs.

Took this one with me to Venice. Did'nt really impress me. Would recommend getting a Lonelyplanet guide instead.

Took this one with me to Venice. Did'nt really impress me. Would recommend getting a Lonelyplanet guide instead.

While I have been an happy timeout guide customer in the past, I was extremely disappointed by this guide, and sometime amazed by its errors.

The most amazing one is about the bridge: Vasco da Gama is located in
East Lisbon, while this guide described it in details and with a
wrong picture in Belem (West Lisbon). The picture is on page 85 and
this is NOT Vasco da Gama bridge!!

Among the other wrong information:

- misplaced tube stations which left me wondering for tens of minutes
(I was luckily rescued by a local map I got there)
- the highly advised tram 28 is instead 28E (28 is a bus that travels
a completely different route!)

This is an amazing item, I have tried many diferent techniques to learn Italian and this is by far the best. I really do encourage you to buy this you won't regret it. The voices used are really good as well, they saying everything clearly allowing you to understand quicker. The music is also an added bonus it allows the words to stick in your brain faster, and makes the experience alot more enjoyable. With this product its not a matter of having to use it, but you want to use it. Fantastic.

Time Out guides are uniformly excellent, and this one is no exception. We used it for the Lago Maggiore, not for Milan. The amount of information available for the Lago was not large, but what was there was very useful. TO guides are especially good when it comes to restaurants. All of the ones we tried were very good. The history section is also very interesting and well written.
