. Starting a Business in Italy: How to Set Up and Run a Successful Business in the Bel Paese
by: Emma Bird, Mario Berri
October 02, 2006
What a fabulous find! No other book on moving to Italy focuses on setting up a business and this one is brimming with information. Emma Bird and Mario Berri, the authors recently moved to Sardinia where they set up their own business, helping others to do just that in Italy. British Bird is a trained journalist and has lived, studied and worked all over Italy. Meanwhile, Italian Berri, knows the ropes, the language and the culture, there could be no better combination of brains.
This book is full of indispensable information. Yet, rather than being a dry old tome, it is peppered with case studies, interviews, illustrations, facts, figures and lots and lots of lovely resources. This is an authentic publication that combines vital ... Read More:

. The Complete Guide to Buying Property in Italy: Buying, Restoring, Renting, Letting and Selling
by: Barbara McMahon
April 30, 2004
I purchased this book as part of my research into buying and restoring a property Italy. The book concentrates really on the seraching and buying process and not as much on restoration. It contains lots of entertaining stories - but I would have liked to have seen more facts, checklists and information about the actual costs of restoring. Bearing in mind that the writer restored a property felt that she would have been happy to share issues like costs, photos etc., An interesting lightweight paperback which gives and introduction to buying etc., in Italy.

. Oxford Italian Grammar and Verbs (Dictionary)
by: Colin McIntosh
June 20, 2002
This recently published handbook (2002) is an excellent guide to the Italian language (grammar and verbs), and it also fits into your pocket for portability and easy access. Some of the topics included are: Spelling, Nouns, Adjectives, Pronouns, etc. with sections on Counting and Measuring, Talking about time and places. Verbs are covered in two sections - regular verbs and a large list of irregular verbs at the end of the book. Examples are clearly marked in bold. An example from the section on Imperatives, the Italian and English are displayed as: la macchina! / your car! (The <..> are to show the bold words in the text. These characters do not appear themselves).
Another example in the same section ... Read More:

. Michel Thomas Foundation Course: Italian (Michel Thomas Series)
by: Michel Thomas
September 29, 2006
The first thing to say is that the Michel Thomas way is perfect for me. I did his Spanish course and it gave me the motivation to take conversation lessons. The big problem is not the saying or reading of a language, it is the listening to others and understanding what they are saying that is difficult. So, having completed the Italian course I feel very confident with the structure and cognate vocabulary, and I just need to practice. Having followed Michel Thomas's Spanish course in the past I have to say that I found the Italian version less comprehensive than the Spanish. There seems to be a lot of time spent on the will and would, and the stressed 'r' on the word endings. As with the Spanish course you have to get past the students mistakes, but ... Read More:

. Italy (Lonely Planet Country Guide)
by: Damien Simonis, et al
February 01, 2008
This is a good guide book, as all the guide books in the series, but I did expect a bit more from it. I travelled around Italy together with my husband the summer of 2005, and we used this guide book a lot. But it is a guide book, nothing more. There are quite a bit of things that have changed since the book was last edited, but this is expected. We are planning to send the findings we did to the editor, so that it can be added or changed in the next edition, perhaps. We felt that the book focused too much on churches, castles etc, and a lot of really interesting things were missed - like the local food markets, which we love to visit. There wasn't much of "different" or "special" recommendations, it was just focusing on the "What to see if you are ... Read More:

. Italian Verb Drills (BGR12)
by: Paola Nanni Tate
October 01, 2003
I am currently doing a intermediate level of italian but find it always useful to remember the key verbs. I have used a lot of italian books in order to understand italian and this one explains and does what it says ''drills'' those verbs into your mind with a good set of exercises. A well organized easy to understand book perfect for beginners of Italian! I would seriously recommend it.
