This is an amazing item, I have tried many diferent techniques to learn Italian and this is by far the best. I really do encourage you to buy this you won't regret it. The voices used are really good as well, they saying everything clearly allowing you to understand quicker. The music is also an added bonus it allows the words to stick in your brain faster, and makes the experience alot more enjoyable. With this product its not a matter of having to use it, but you want to use it. Fantastic.

I bought this last week and it's brilliant - I've just ordered the second volume. It totally suits my way of learning and is very easy to use. it does work rapidly and is much more pleasnt to listen to than those dreadful CD's with mock conversations in them. i'm really enjoying using it. HIghly effective - would recommend! :)

Perhaps I just don't learn this way. The music did nothing for me, and I can't think of any phrases "anchored into my long term memory". Perhaps I don't play it enough.

The CD is fine if you want to learn stock phrases like "I would like to order...", "Have you got..." "Is there...." but what do you do when someone responds in German.

I want to learn German so I can ask, understand the answer and respond. It will help you "get by" but not to have a conversation - go for broke and get Michel Thomas instead.

The French word for bread is "pain" not "pan" - the method may work but if the information being taught is inaccurate this is not a useful tool.

Well, I do own this, and the mistake is in the review, not the product.

The back of the box actually says:

The french for bread is pain. (PAHn)
Imagine putting loaves of bread in a pan.

(Because, although spelt pain, it is not pronounced pain).

This is indeed a good method of learning vocabulary.

All words are placed in context with a French sentence alongside an English translation.

Come on - for this price, do what I did an just buy it!

I'm not a French speaker or learner myself, but bought this as a gift for a friend who is tackling the language. I'm sure they'll enjoy it as it's quite fun compared to the dry language texts I had to wade through at school. It's interesting to see that some French idioms are quite similar to ours but have an unusual slant. For example, where we have 'Pushing up the daisies', they have 'Eating the daisies from the roots up'; we write 'Rubber cheques', and they write 'wooden' ones (like taking a 'wooden nickel'?). Others are quite surreal 'Falling backwards into apples' sound quite painful, but to the French this is a soft landing. I don't have a natural aptitude for language learning and have struggled through a whole range of books, tapes, CDs and classes to try to learn some useful Spanish. I love the EarWorms approach. The CD is catchy, fun and relaxed, and quite addictive. I just wish that they did a whole language package like this rather than just basic holiday or travel phrases. Looking forward to CD version 3 in this series. Great for anyone like me who struggles or who is easily bored by conventional teaching. Definitely 5 stars.

I very much enjoyed the learning experience and found it stuck but then when speaking to Chinese (mandarin speakers) they couldn't understand me. The tape doesn't focus on the tones and intonations needed for Mandarin. I switched to a Harold Goodman audiobook and found I was much more understood because of the focus on the correct intonations. Maybe these tapes work well with other languages as the music in the background does seem to help the learning experience but I found them of little use for Mandarin.

Volume 1 has already been useful - my wife, daughter and myself were in Greece a couple of months ago and having even limited skills in the language totally changed the attitude of the locals towards us! Christine (daughter) was a great hit around the town we were staying in as she was the only British child who had any skills at all in the language.

The Rosetta Stone system is pretty good (and goes further) - but for pain free and quick learning of basics of a language at sensible prices, I'm really impressed with the Earworms method!

Volume 2 expands on vol 1 - although it can mostly be used standalone, you'll want some of the parts from Vol 1 - particularly the numbers track.

I have a few of these CD's as I'm learning 3 languages (yes I'm obviously insane) and they are fantastic ways of learning. The guys voice is very sexy, which makes me want to listen more but the way it is set out makes it so easy to learn.
I have two children, 6 and 8 and even they are saying German phrases after listening to the cd a few times. The music is not as you'd imagine, it's not like hardcore pop tunes, but the tempo etc is enough to get your memory firing up.

Quality idea, I wish I'd though of it myself. Better than any book or other language course I have tried.
