. Thailand (Country Guide)
by: China Williams, Aaron Anderson, Brett Atkinson, Tim Bewer, Becca Blond, Virginia Jealous, Lisa Steer

This guide is great and seems to be the guide of choice of pretty much everyone I saw during my three week stint in Thailand. I had to have seen it in at least 6 languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese), so considering that the international community seems to embrace it pretty well, I'd put some merit in its pages.
As much as I love this book, I have to admit that it isn't perfect. It puts a lot of information within its pages and sometimes misses some places (mostly restaurants and some guest houses) in the smaller towns. Also, the maps can be a little out of scale. However, with that said, the book is great. It gives a great overview of pretty much every town you can think of to go to (some more popular ones ... Read More:

. Lonely Planet Washington, DC
by: Aaron Anderson, Becca Blond
April 01, 2007
Being a travel junky I found this guidebook very valuable. Some points:
1. It has color maps all located in the same place (back of the book). On the backside of each map is an index with a page reference! So you see the map, you flip and find the attraction/restaurant/whatever, and you go to the referenced page for more info. This is invaluable since the last thing I like doing is flipping through maps embedded throughout a book only to not get any information on what's around me.
2. Did I mention the maps? There is also a subway map overlay on each map so you can plan getting there and getting back. There's also a complete map at the very back.
3. It's a compact book. This is a BIG deal. Lug around a monstrous ... Read More:

. Feed
by: M.T. Anderson
March 11, 2008
Rather than focusing on the political aspects of a dystopia, Anderson focuses on the cultural aspects. Almost everyone has an implanted "feed" from a very young age which gives them access to unlimited information, but also seems to allow corporations unlimited access to the individual. Everyone is constantly bombarded with offers and news of sales from corporations. This has the somewhat predictable result of dumbing down the population, to the point where all they care about are stupid shows on the feed, and shopping. But wait, that sounds kind of familiar.
There are other repercussions of the feed. People seem to be developing lesions, which continue unexplained throughout the book. By the end of the book, they have become fashion statements, with people who ... Read More:

. Scanning: The Aberrant Architectures of Diller + Scofidio
by: Aaron Betsky, K. Michael Hays, Laurie Anderson
March 01, 2003
The companion book to an exhibition at the Whitney, which runs through June 1, is a work of art in itself. The lenticular plastic cover shimmers enigmatically; folded pages with elliptical cuts allow you to peer inside, propelling you through the book in search of what can be imperfectly glimpsed. It's an appropriate, teasing metaphor for this collection of installations, exhibits, and as yet unrealized projects, plus Blur from the Swiss Expo 02. Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio ponder our obsession with display and call everything into question. (Michael Webb is the book reviewer for LA Architect magazine.)

. Professional ASP Data Access
by: James De Carli, Richard Anderson, Simon Robinson, Charles Fairchild, Thearon Willis, Joshua Parkin, Dino Esposito, Ulrich Schwanitz, Jason Hales, Kent Tegels, John Granade, Aaron Grady, Matthew Reynolds
2000-10
I was hoping this would be the sequel to the awesome beginners asp database book by John Kauffman. It was not even close. This book trys to cover so many platforms that it ends up not covering anything very well. The examples are terrible and confusion will set in after the second chapter. I have found that with Wrox books, if there is more than one person on the cover, then it will stink up the place.
