. The Last Patriot: A Thriller
by: Brad Thor

I chose this book for our book club and I was thrilled that it turned out to be an exciting and interesting book. I read it in two days and couldn't put it down. The chapters are short so I kept reading "just one more chapter" until I had finished the book. I learned so much about Thomas Jefferson that I ended up buying a book called,"Jefferson Writings" and I might even venture to say that he just may be my favorite President now that I know more about him. I also bought two books on Niccolo Machiavelli. I was constantly checking the internet to read up on some of the inventions mentioned in the book. The writing style of this book reminded me of DiVinci Code. I was a little apprehensive at first that it would be anti Muslim, but it ... Read More:

. The First Commandment: A Thriller
by: Brad Thor

I read a lot of political thrillers... good ones and not so good ones... this one I could not finish. The story was predictable, the characters caricatures of ultra-right wing rednecks and really, do I need to know that the characters ate before something happens in the story? Page 101: "once he gulped down his breakfast". Page 79 "he even allowed himself an after-dinner drink.". Page 115, "the resort's chef made a late lunch and the men made small talk as they ate". This weird interest in using meals as either filler or segways between scenes goes on and on. Did the publishers put a stipulation in his contract as to the number of pages he needed to fill? The politics of this author are predictable, ridiculously one dimensional and outright pandering ... Read More:

. Takedown: A Thriller
by: Brad Thor
May 22, 2007
The book was enjoyable for a summer read. Of course it's a one man army against the evil terrorists and everyone else is just backdrop. The worst thing about it was the killing of the girlfriend at the end, just plain stupid. I'm going to get back at you for trying to kill me by hunting you down across the ocean just to kill a woman you've known what, a week??? And leave you totally uninjurred?? Yeah that hurts!! So as long as you don't take it too seriously and don't think too much you can read it and enjoy it.

. The Lions of Lucerne

I am always prepared to make allowances for an author's first efforts, but didn't have to in this case. With a bold and plausible plot right out of today's headlines, I found this book to be an exciting and realistic read. Scot Harvath is a rare hero, driven to accomplish the mission, with the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done, yet he is likable and thoughtful. I bought the first two books, was halfway through the second and ordered the rest from Amazon. I am now on book for, and it only is getting better.

. Path of the Assassin: A Thriller
by: Brad Thor
February 27, 2007
The second book in the Scot Harvath series was no letdown after "The Lions of Lucerne". With imaginative plot twists, exotic locations, and a new unlikely heroine, this second effort by Brad Thor is every bit as engaging as his first was. And as far as the cold-hearted assassin is concerned, the identity is surprising. Against the backdrop of current events, Brad Thor recognizes that politically incorrect fact, that we are at war with elements of a group of religious extremists; radical Islam. As fantastic as the action in this book was, I found it to be plausible, if not realistic.
