. The Disneyland Encyclopedia: The Unofficial, Unauthorized, and Unprecedented History of Every Land, Attraction, Restaurant, Shop, and Event in the Original Magic Kingdom
by: Chris Strodder
May 01, 2008
I ordered this book in a fit of enthusiasm after my first return visit to Disneyland as an adult (the enthusiasm persists, incidentally.) I was looking for something to fill me in on the history of the Magic Kingdom and satisfy grown-up curiosity about things I didn't think all that much about when I was a kid. This book was exactly what I was looking for: there's a wonderful lot of information, delivered in a manner which is to-the-point but not at all dry. I enjoyed both looking up individual entries, and then reading through the book straight through. Best of all, while the book has a lot for the grown-up visitor to Disneyland, it almost never interferes with the magic of the place. The book will tell you all about Disneyland, without ... . The Encyclopedia of Sixties Cool: A Celebration of the Grooviest People, Events, and Artifacts of the 1960s
by: Chris Strodder
March 01, 2007
Anyone who contrasts the stresses of the new century with this special decade in the last one, can really appreciate this book. It brings us back to a better time in our lives. Despite the Vietnam War, a lot was going on in America that could be celebrated, and this book brings it all back for us. Great antidote to high blood pressure! Great memory prodder! I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the highlights of the sixties and the "cool" personalities who entertained us then, and, if only in the interest of spicing up the conversation at cocktail parties, I highly recommend absorbing the information in this book! -- Joanne ORoark, Santa Barbara, CA

. The Wish Book
by: Chris Strodder
March 15, 2004
Strodder really outdid himself with this one. After completing his previous work, Lockerboy, he went on to write this. It's masterfully crafted, in essence poking a little fun at the little mounain town in which he grew up. The characters are believable, the plot is masterful and the writing style is excellent. The entire story is told in true-to-syllabic prose, but unlike similar instances of this (like Of Mice And Men), even the narrator speaks in a dilapidaded form of english.
Strodder's grammar, however, still shines through. In one case, Duane, (the narrator) stated that there were about a "Hunner'd kids around the perimeter" of a court. Even still, Strodder injects a patent form of humor and delightful artistry into this tale of rednecks. ... Read More:

. Stories Light and Dark
by: Chris Strodder
December 14, 2005
I recently got this book as a Christmas present and found it very enjoyable. I don't get a lot of time to read, so the stories were just the right length to fit with my night time schedule. I was able to read one or two at a whack, though as I got more into them towards the middle, I was reading closer to three at a time.
There is a real diversity here to hold nearly anyone's attention. Some are light and fun (as the title suggests, I suppose) and others are, again, on the darker side, though I wouldn't call them purely "dark" as in anyone getting killed. Oh wait, people do get killed. Okay, they are dark. Real dark. But those are the one's I liked the best. Does that make me dark? I'm all screwed up here and getting off track. Bottom line: good book. ... Read More:
