I love this book! I think every married couple or couple thinking of getting married, should read this book. It really helps you to have realistic expectations. This book is wonderfully informative but also very entertaining and fun to read. Having seen Kevin Leman deliver this message in person, the book is a wonderful reference to go back and read from time to time. BUY IT!

Dr Leman is best known for his book regarding birth order and its effect upon personality and characteristics and so I expected this book to be good and I was not disappointed.

It is ironic, but the fact is that many underachievers are in fact not lazy, but people capable of excellence who have determined on some level that it is safer to gaurd against being judged by others by engineering circumstances in their lives, jobs and relationships to where other elements can be blamed, at least in the mind of that person, and they are insulated from the terrible judgement that they somehow are just not capable people.

These books are so wonderful, I'm so glad all three of my girls got them from Christmas. My girls are 5, 2 and 10 months so only the oldest really understood hers. That's fine with me; the younger two will grow into their books. It's amazing how much this book describes my child exactly. Yes the book is a bit long winded for a young child, but my 5-year-old enjoys it. Yes, these books are VERY Christian oriented- as are all Dr. Leman's books. If you are a fan of Dr. Leman's other books you will love this for your child (or sibling).

I am a psychologist and bought all 3 books in the series when my son's wife gave birth to his 3rd child. I didn't preview it before I read these books to the oldest as well as to newly deemed "middle child." I was disapointed and a bit apologetic to their parents when we all read it together. These children knew the message(s) in the book were related to them. I felt that since they are so young, they were getting a message about how they were going to (or should) turn out. Also, there were references to Christmas and I felt this didn't leave room for people who celebrate other holidays than those. I thought the concept of the book was good.
