.Blue Guide Sicily, Seventh Edition (Blue Guide Sicily) by: Ellen Grady September 04, 2006 Superb guide to history, culture, geography, cuisine of Sicily with interesting sidebar vignettes, detailed maps and good photography. A bit heavy to travel with, however, but excellent reference to prepare for trip. .Blue Guide The Marche, First Edition (Blue Guide the Marche) by: Ellen Grady September 04, 2006 I'm just back from 10 days in Le Marche. It's such a beautiful region, though largely ignored by tourists and guidebooks. I was lucky to have friends who recently purchased a home in the region and have been traveling there for years. This was the first time they had seen a guidebook for Le Marche, and they were impressed by the specific information on all the little towns that dot the mountain tops there. In fact, they liked it so much that I left it at the house for them and their future visitors to enjoy. .Blue Guide Sicily, Sixth Edition by: Ellen Grady 2003-05 Yes, as other reviewers write, Ellen Grady's book is full of rich and detailed history of the places you'll visit, but it lacks essential practical information. We used it only for Taormina (beautiful town, highly recommended) and Catania (Sicily's second largest city, which you could skip), so the book may be more helpful elsewhere on the island. As for these two destinations, the book lacked essential information (like the frequency and cost of various public transportation options between towns). Also, it had virtually no narrative description of restaurants, just a mere listing. If I wanted history, I would have bought a history book.
