For the last 4 years, I've had a summer job at Zion and have used this guide in hiking all but 2 of the trails listed in here. The trail guides are accurate and give a person an excellent idea of how difficult a trail is along with how interesting it is. Take it with you. It will help.

The entire series of Falcon Guides: THE BEST EASY DAY HIKES xxxxx are a delight to read and then follow. For those with a minimal amount of time to see vistas, canyons, and other scenery in parks and other areas of the country you can really experience a good variety of the locale by taking any of the hikes in these books.

I have about a dozen of these books, mostly of the western US and have referenced all of them in my hiking plannings. They are pocket size which makes them easy to carry with you and easy to read an understand.

This book has been one of the best hiking books I've purchased so far. The hikes it has for the Aspen and Maroon Bells area are phenomenal! It also includes some great hikes in the Collegiate peaks area. The only drawback is that about one-third of the hikes in the book require high clearance or 4 wheel drive vehicles to get to.

We owned the "Revised" edition of this book, and misplaced or loaned it. When we started thinking about next year's hike, we searched high and low and realized we couldn't do it without this book! We went to the bookstore and purchased what we THOUGHT was the same book. WRONG! We purchased the 3RD EDITION, and it just was NOT the same! The index is about half as thorough. The real disappointment, though is that the elevation profile charts have been removed. They were invaluable in the revised edition. The sheer size of the Bob Marshall Complex presents a particular challenge to a would-be author of a hiking guide, namely, how to encompass its breadth without making every hike a hundred miles in length. Molvar's solution is to segregate particular sections of trail into hikes whose starting and ending points lie conveniently at or near the junctions of other trails, which he in turn describes in other hikes. This a very helpful and informative book on anyone who should want to hike in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. It gives trails, elevation, distances from trail head to each connection on the trail for the end of the journey. I highly recommend this book to hikers.
