.Frommer's California 2008 (Frommer's Complete) by: Harry Basch, Mark Hiss, Erika Lenkert, Matthew Richard Poole December 05, 2007 I also purchased Frommer's San Francisco 2008 and I tend to have similar tastes with those authors. Since the San Francisco excerpt of this California guide was written by those authors, I highly recommend that section. However, my tastes greatly diverged from those of the author/authors of the Monterey and Carmel-By-the-Sea sections of the book. .RV Vacations For Dummies (Dummies Travel) by: Harry Basch, Shirley Slater May 19, 2008 I was looking for a guide that explains me how a vacation in RV is. Pros and cons, suggestions, how to have a nice vacation if you are new to RVing. In the first 30 pages they explain all this, then it's just a bunch of chapters with vacation ideas. I already knew where i wanted to go, and my destination was not included in their suggestions so this book was completely useless for me. .Frommer's Exploring America by RV (Frommer's Exploring America By Rv) by: Shirley Slater, Harry Basch March 31, 2008 I was a little surprised at the poor reviews this book got after spending a couple hours with it myself. I read the first 4 or 5 chapters yesterday at the bookstore but then came here to buy it. The opening chapters are not chock full of facts and great information, but they do offer some firsthand insights on beginning an RV adventure. If not purely informative, it was at least interesting, with some good info mixed in. For instance, the list of names and addresses where you can get reviews and lists of campgrounds in various locales, or the info about the Bureau of Land Management lands in the southwest. I glanced at some of the trips listed in the middle chapters, and I think I could do about as well on my own with the internet ... .Frommer's USA (Frommer's Complete) by: Beth Reiber, Linda Romine, Harry Basch, Amy Eckert, David Baird, Bill McRae, Karl Samson, Matthew Richard Poole, Darwin Porter, Danforth Prince, Karen K. Snyder February 27, 2007 While on the road (Las Vegas, Arizona and New Mexico) I reviewed three USA guides and my first choice was Fodor's, then Frommer's and finally, Let's Go. Frommer's practical recommendations are judicious ("We highly recommend that you rent a car when in Las Vegas". YES). The guide's 'What to See & Do' is worth adhering to. The maps are excellent and locate accommodations and dining rapidly for you. The comments for restaurants were normally 'spot on the money', but, restaurants can turn over ownership and management quickly and quality can drop. I experienced this in the case of the Frommer's recommended restaurant 'Maria Teresa' in Albuquerque. This is a property needs to be revisited and possibly dropped from the guide.
