.The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide by: J.R. Ward June 03, 2008 first off i loved all the bdb books except for number 4 that said this book is different but good. it took me 3 months to buy because of all the bad reviews. so lets clairify what had everyone dissapointed. 1. too much going on/ i personally like reading about everyone and whats going on and i cant wait for all their storys now. 2.not a romance/ sorry ladies but sex does not a romance make .this story is about two people with a boat load of emotional problems they have to find themselfs before they can find eachother. their story is not all wine and roses but thats life. alot of hard work and devotion und understanding. that is a love story. ... .Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 2) by: J.R. Ward March 07, 2006 Rhage has always been the sexiest of the brothers for me, and Ward has written a very good second book, further developing her back story and cleverly laying the groundwork for future books (John/Darius, Zsadist, etc.). However, I was just a bit disappointed at the ending. *** SPOILER BELOW -- DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! *** Since I think Rhage is simply sex on legs, my pleasure at finishing the book was dimmed by learning that he would never be producing any baby vampires due to Mary's illness. .Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 5) by: J.R. Ward September 25, 2007 I found this book to be the best in the series after Wrath's story. It spoke to me the most. It was darker than the others and the relationship between the main characters (Vishous and Jane) is a bit more unconventional. I liked how JR Ward explored the physical relationship and didn't turn Vishous into to much of a lovey dovey guy. I do agree that this book should not be your first to read for this series. Jon was in the book quite a bit, again but I think its possibly JR Ward's way of building interest for him, even though he is in my eyes not enough developed yet to have his own book (even though he kind of is - I won't say more to not give spoilers away) One thing I am sad about - after reading Lover unbound, I have no real interest in Phury's ... You will be making a HUGE mistake!!!! J.R. Ward is brilliant! These books are the best paranormal romance novels I've ever read...and I've read a lot of romance novels! I've spent so long looking for a series like this. I read the second novel first, because that was all they had available in the bookstores at the time. I was testing out the series anyway, so I didn't care if I read them out of order. I needed a quick fix; I was going through romance novel withdrawal and I kept coming across some real disappointers. Ward March 06, 2007 This was the book I couldn't wait for once I started the series, since I thought Butch and Marissa's interludes were the hottest thing in the first book, even though they only had a few pages in Dark Lover and the two of them never even got close to having actual sex. Butch is the most interesting of the male leads to date, being a human with human vulnerabilities, and a desperate need for acceptance and purpose in his life, a tough outsider who brings in an outsider's slice-of-life perspective. The banter between him and the brothers crackles with offhand humor and the story of his progressive integration into the Brotherhood shines a fresh light on the society. .Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 1) by: J.R. Ward September 06, 2005 If you are looking for a romance novel this may not be your flavor. If however, you are looking for MORE than a romance novel, a real paranormal novel then this may be for you. J.R. Ward is fantastic in that the characters are 3-dimensional and recur throughout the entire Black Dagger series. These books are grittier (i.e., with language and sex) but much more realistic than the formulaic romance novels. If you like Matrix-like action and tough men you will probably like these books. I thank God for J.R.
