Jan Prince really knows French Polynesia. She has lived and traveled there and it shows. Her descriptions of the resorts and restaurants is far beyond that which you find in most travel books; much more detailed and personal. However, I have the previous edition and felt it actually contained much more information (indeed it was a larger book). Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for anyone thinking of traveling to French Polynesia. It's great for both planning your trip and using while there.

The author of this guide has a comprehensive knowledge of French Polynesia as a long term resident. The book is well organized and covers most every topic that concerns a potential visitor. However my copy of the book was written in 2005 and it is likely prices quoted are considerably out of date due to inflation and global currency fluctuations.

I hope a new edition will be written shortly. If there is one, it could benefit from much more detailed maps showing the precise locations of accomodations and points of interest. Since many people arrive in French Polynesia by boat, some nautical maps would also be highly useful. A new edition should also contain more photos.

Since I will not be lucky enough to see the exhibition at the Guggenheim, I am very happy to be able to say that this is one of the best art books I have ordered so far. It lists and illustrates the bulk of Prince's major series (the original ad pictures from the 1970's, stripped of all text, the cowboy photos,the joke paintings, the nurse paintings,the latest 2006 "De Kooning" paintings which are a complete discovery, and many more). The illustrations are wonderful and do justice to the scope and depth of the artist's oeuvre.

The book starts with an enlightening essay by curator Nancy Spector who shows how Prince's appropriation art resulted in one of the most profound analyses of contemporary American culture. Another valuable ... Read More:

I keep this book in my office for reference. The authors teach NLP techniques clearly using interesting case examples. They are respectful and savvy as they apply their expertise of NLP with other methods, including family systems, to show how they help their clients accomplish desired changes.
They demonstrate ways to work with resistance by bringing their clients conflicting internal motivations and body sensations to their awareness. Many keys to effective change are clearly detialed in this excellent book.

I bought this book for my 2 1/2 yr. old daughter. The book does explain to the child the process of learning pottying; however, the book explains that boys stand up to urinate and girls sit down. I thought that was too much information at this point in time. My daughter never plays with the doll.

Bonds is one of those books I'm never quite sure how to approach. It's certainly got its good points, and just as certainly its bad ones. And yet, there is no feeling of inconsistency in the poems themselves; it's obvious both the good and the bad stem from the same source. Sometimes it just makes you want to shake a writer and say "you're almost there. Just fix these things..."

Seale, who's since been published in most of America's best literary magazines and been an NEA fellowship recipient, seems to have managed to fix them.
