the Lonely Planet guide to India is THE guide. Going to India with the Lonely Planet changed my life. It also tells you to leave the guide behind and follow your intuition. I did. The result was my new book, on how to travel with your intuition and change your life. Travelling Magically: How to Turn Your Journey into a Life-Changing Experience. Quite a few stories about my time in India there - I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

. Rajasthan, Delhi & Agra (Regional Guide)
by: Lindsay Brown
October 01, 2008
I'd heard from friends that the Lonely Planets guides are spot-on for travel. I bought Australia before I went in Sept. 2008 and we used it at Uluru (formerly Ayres Rock), in Adelaide, and in Sydney. It was EXTREMELY helpful. The listings are informative and we agreed with most evaluations they made. When you go that far for a vacation, you certainly don't want to waste time finding your way around or waste money by going to bad venues. This book will help prevent both. The only negative is that the book is heavy and was a bit of a chore to haul along!

. East Coast Australia (Regional Guide)
by: Lindsay Brown, Ryan Ver Berkmoes

In recent years, I have been increasingly disappointed with the information contained in LP's guides. In the case of this one, I purposefully chose _East Coast Australia_ instead of the thicker LP guide covering all of Australia. I figured I could get more detail about locations in that region with this region-specific book, but I was wrong. Morton National Park and neighboring Bungonia Gorge are not even mentioned. (The larger guide does cover Morton.) Canberra, the nation's capitol, gets a mere 4 1/2 pages of text. Some of the smaller towns surrounding Canberra (picturesque Yass, comfortable Queanbeyan, historic Cooma, Goulburn on the motorway between Canberra and Sydney) get no mention whatsoever. Several years ago, LP discovered that there was a dearth ... Read More:
