. The Rough Guide to Argentina 3rd Edition
by: Andrew Benson, Rosalba O'Brien, Danny Aeberhard, Lucy Phillips
February 04, 2008
This was my first Rough Guide purchase as I have always been a fan of Lonely Planet. I bought the Argentina guide since it was published recently and used it specifically for a trip to Buenos Aires. I thought that the information was relatively good in terms of descriptions of neighborhoods in general, but not detailed enough for my tastes. Pricing is difficult, even for a very recent edition, due to the inflation in Argentina. However, I prefer Lonely Plant for giving more substantive historical backgrounds in their guides as well as telling it as it is in their hotel, restaurant, etc. reviews.

. Tomorrow's Cities, Tomorrow's Suburbs
by: William H. Lucy, David L. Phillips
June 01, 2006
This book covers quite a few issues, including:
*The (partial) revival of cities. By and large, most cities continued to fall further behind their suburbs in the 1990s. But there were a few exceptions to this rule, more than in earlier decades. And more recent Census data suggests that some cities actually began to do better than their suburbs (as measured by income growth) during the early 2000s.
*The (partial) decline of American suburbia. Lucy and Phillips point out that whether one measures decline by population or by income, quite a few American suburbs now lag behind nearby cities. Among the suburbs of 11 population-losing major cities, 14% lost population at a faster rate than their host city. And even among ... Read More:

. A rare pattern
by: Lucy Phillips Russell
1957
This book has tons of statistics gathered in one place on the impacts of sprawl on older communities, and how shifts in development (including mushrooming house sizes) have put older suburbs and their smaller homes at a disadvantage. This is the best book on outlining the problems faced by older suburbs and why decline is happening. Perhaps the most intriguing finding is that communities with older homes don't necessarily decline, but that homes built between 1940 and 1970 are most vulnerable. Home renovation expenditures are not keeping pace with the rate at which homes depreciate and need major systems replacements. Urbanists should be paying more attention to these neighborhoods, which are often neither the stereotypical exclusionary privileged ... Read More:

. Bride of Chance (Candlelight Regency #251)
by: Lucy Phillips Stewart
October 01, 1978
It's always a pleasure to read about a female character who doesn't part ways with personal elegance, wisdom and femininity, though she is thrust into a several dark and challenging situations that require only her beauty. A nice casual story. Great romance for a sunny afternoon. This is from the cover's write-up: BRIDE OF CHANCE. How could the lovely Lady Jessica hope to be happy in the arms of a dissolute duke who had won her in a card game? How could she hold her own in the glittering, titled society of Regency London---when only the luck of the draw made her a duchess? But clever as she was beautiful, the Lady Jessica held a few cards of her own. And the handsome duke was definitely dazzled---until a dark family secret endangered both ... Read More:
