the Lonely Planet guide to India is THE guide. Going to India with the Lonely Planet changed my life. It also tells you to leave the guide behind and follow your intuition. I did. The result was my new book, on how to travel with your intuition and change your life. Travelling Magically: How to Turn Your Journey into a Life-Changing Experience. Quite a few stories about my time in India there - I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

My 12 year old son (6th grader) is a reluctant reader. I usually set a number of pages that he must read and he actually went beyond the goal at the first sitting. I know this book is geared for ages 7-10 but it held his interest and he enjoyed it so don't let the age range be your guide. It's a good read for boys who seem to be more interested in...well other things besides reading books--Mission Accomplished.

How this book came to me: I requested an advance reading copy of this book from the Amazon Vine program for the purpose of writing a review. I selected it because I have liked previous books by this author. In fact, Andrew Clements was my older son's favorite author the year he was ten years old, and I though the book would be a good fit for our family.

The story as described on the back cover is the classic tale of switching places with someone and fooling people, but with a twist. Identical twins Jay and Ray, in their first day of sixth grade, find out upon starting at a new school that due to a mix-up the school only knows about one of them. As someone who left Indonesia years ago, this guide is an interesting reminder. A little superficial maybe. It's a travel guide and not a political history book, so it omits a lot of bloody history about the previous Suharto dictatorship.

But the photos are nice and convey some of the tropical beauty of the countryside in Java. The authors show several scenic spots, though focused on Java since most of the people are there. Bali gets a lot of coverage, because foreigners throng to its beaches and nightclubs.

Rosella is a princess that was granted with a spell that made jewels come out of her mouth when she talked. No one really appreciated her but they appreciated her jewels.

Lorelei was a girl that lived with her nanny that didnt like her very much at all. Lorelei ends up pretending that she was a princess and it turned out she did eveything a real princess should be able to do.

Sonaro was a princess that was granted with a spell that if she was pricked with needle she would fall asleep for a hundred years and a prince would wake her up with a kiss. Sonaro gets pricked by a needle and she falls asleep for a hundrd years and she wakes up with a prince that was perfect for her.

What to say about Belarus? Well, we spent the day the White Russkis commemmorate the end of WWII there, so I've seen it in all of its "grandeur". Not much to recommend it, go and see Belarus if you missed out on the post WWII East European dictatorships, because Belarus is the last of its kind. A genuine personality cult around the president runs politics, and you can get a feel for what it was like in 1970's E. Europe. Guess what- you will not like it. Take some pics of Minsk & move on to Moscow. And if you can find a decent hotel in Minsk, you've done better than my wife and I did.

This is a very well written book on developing applications with Lotus Notes. There are abundant samples of code that you can plug into your applications. If you work with Notes/Domino, or are thinking about it then this book belongs in your library.

I loved Ella Enchanted and Levine's style of writing. This book has a collection of three different short stories by Levine that are imaginative and fun. All are simple and the characters fall in love easily. Gender is switched up in these tales where the typical role of the male is played by the female.

Cinderellis and the Glass Hill--From the title, you'd think this is another story about Cinderella. It is in fact a story of a boy named Ellis who is nicknamed Cinderellis by his two older brothers. The king has devised a test to determine who is worthy to marry his daughter. All suitors must ride their horse up a glass hill and collect three golden apples from the princess.
