I needed this book for Microbiology class. This book has great color diagrams that coincide with the reading material. It also contains photos of organisms under microscopes which also enables the reader to get the full picture of the learned material.

As someone who lectures to adult audiences on Northern Arizona geology using powerpoint slides loaded with photos and drawings, I was very interested in this visual approach to teaching geology. Unfortunately, although the book is billed as suitable for university course, I found it more on the high school or even junior high school level. The photos and diagrams are fine but the accompanying "text", if it could be called that, is inadequate and too dumbed down to qualify for a university level course. "Rocks for Jocks" maybe, but not for serious students of geology. Better to choose a standard text like "Dynamic Earth" by Skinner, Porter and Park, a book that has many excellent and effective visual aids along with a thorough university level text. ... Read More:

I have little to add to the positive commentary on the philosophical/theological content of this masterwork. But if you are choosing between versions of this book, Waldstein's commentary and footnotes are excellent and certainly enhance the understanding of John Paul II's thoughts.

This book is not about value investing, it is about modern security analysis, which is exactly what Graham warned against. It places an emphasis on growth over actual value. One of Graham's fundamental principles was that future growth is completely unreliable and any analysis based on it is just a speculator's way of justifying his gamble. While I liked the book's coverage on franchises and competitive advantage it highlights the fact that fundamentals weren't discussed at all.

Here is the biggest example of why this book is so far off the mark. It highlights Intel as a value investment. The stock currently has a P/E of 25x and has always been over priced from a valuation standpoint. Not only that but Intel's only possible competitive advantage is size. ... Read More:

I took the SAT back in 2001, and this book raised my verbal score by close to 170 points. Seriously, I took a practice test, got a 620, spent 3 weeks studying the word lists in this book, took another practice test, got a 790 (I also got a 790 on the real thing). I didn't use anything else. I also didn't learn anything in school because it wasn't in English. This book is awesome. I still remember the words that I learned using this book!

You won't regret it!

If only we had read this book years ago, we would likely have resolved conflict quicker and easier. This book gives some basic tools for development of close loving relationships, what we all long for. It first helps identify bad patterns of behavior, so when you see your interaction deteriorating, it becomes easy to correct and repair the damage. We don't recommend the workbook, but the book and DVDs are excellent and easy to read. Besides hard to put down...

The "liner notes" got my attention - so I bit. And it was a bad choice. Boring, uninteresting, not thrilling, no real surprises, and another average "intrigue" novel which never really got going. These things are a
"dime a dozeon" as my mother would say - sometimes a great plot overcomes lazy writing; sometimes great writing makes up for a ridiculous or dull plot line. I thought neither benefit came through in this book and I wish to hell I had paid $7 for a paperback so I could throw it out half way thru.
