God bless Immaculee! I have read all her books and got one signed at a conference in Phoenix. Being in this woman's presence is truly a gift. Ilibagiza delivers a message that is as strong as her mountain of faith, yet the truth of what she endured is almost too horrible to comprehend. I recommend Led by Faith to anyone who works with survivors of war trauma. Read it to learn about the power of spirituality, the miracle of intention, and the nobility of humanitarianism.

Don't buy this if you expect to find information on the southern Italian mainland.

The map at the front of this book sums up its disappointing lack of coverage of southern Italy. The map stops at the Amalfi coast and does not show the "foot" part of the country. Rick Steves' Italian mainland ends at a line drawn between Paestum and Manfredonia. So .... no Lecce, no Matera, no Otranto - there's absolutely nothing on Puglia. Truncated map = truncated coverage.

The title should be "Rick Steves Most of Italy 2008".

I thought this book was really helpful. The maps were great, just wish we had studied them a little more before we went! We had a great time in Paris and took the book with us everywhere we went. It helped us decide (before we went) which sights to see and which to leave out since our time in Paris was short. It also made it easier to find things and get around without wasting a bunch of time going the wrong way. We wouldn't have known about the museum pass without it!

We just returned from a trip to Europe which included London. Rick's book was a wonderful help to us in planning our sightseeing, learning the Underground, and being all around entertaining. I will certainly purchase other books by him that cover places I will visit. I only wish I had bought it earlier in the planning stages of the trip.

I bought Spain 2008 for my trip. My main language is Spanish, my second language is English so I was looking for a book in Spanish to guide me into my Spain trip. I look many books in Spanish and English I couldn't find a better explained book than this Spain 2008 by Rick Steves. I just came from my trip and I have to say the book is fantastic!!! it is literally a guide to what to see what not to see and how you can save money, the advices he gives you for each city what to do and see are great, very well explained, simple and easy. Also he explains a small summary of the history around the place you will see. He says where to go and how to go, buses #, timetables and prices. I have to say he was short by 10% on each of prices. Planning a brief trip to a country as varied and historic as Germany is demanding, but this book has been my best resource. As in all of his books, Steves states his approach to travel clearly: he doesn't cover everything, just the "best" places, the best according to him, of course. My tastes and orientation align with his (interesting, moderately priced travel, including as much local immersion as is reasonable), so I rely on his books to provide the wonderful backbones of great trips. For visiting places other than his "best" I use a more comprehensive guide book, like Lonely Planet, in addition to (rather than instead of) his.

The book was of very little help when visiting Venice. Poor maps and confusing information. We had to get local maps and the book was useless.

I put "MAP REVIEW" in my title, as it seems that most of the reviews here are for the book? How does that make sense?

This map was good for us as it covered our itinerary - Venice, Florence, Siena, and Rome. The landmarks were helpful, as well as the designations for pedestrian areas and shopping areas. The map is fairly heavy paper, so it will last even if it's not laminated.

My main complaint is the map didn't have enough street level information. So if you're navigating by yourself, you may need another map if you're looking for a particular street location. Also, the maps are marked with the English version of the names of landmarks; for me, I find this confusing when walking around a city.
