I do not like to write a long review either...so just to say this is a fantastic book if you can digest Scott's style (maybe a good advise is to simply ignore his sense of humor).

After reading several reviews and checking the book out at a local store I purchased it on the spot. I'm also ok with Scott's humor and I think it kept the book light hearted enough. I really like the point of view and how he just explains things as if you were just chatting with him (As he meant this book to be and says so in the beginning). It's a very easy read and quick reference.

I bought this book because I considered it as a very informative and well explained book on the digital photography and I expected some explanations about the digital editing as well, but when I start reading the book, it disappointed me so much.
The book is extremely for beginners and has very short contents (without any details), the 60% of the book is filled with photos, and the content is not enough for a person who has already an average knowledge about his own point-and-shoot camera, So I don't recommend it to all of you guys who already know a little about the digital camera functions like, aperture, shutter speed, focal length and flash etc,, believe me this book is not more than just telling u press this button and release that ... I opened this book today for some help with selection. You know, when you use masks or the quick selection tool to isolate an area to change something limited to that area. It doesn't exist!

Furthermore, Scott writes in a jocular style in which he explains things by telling stories, as if he were speaking to a child. I don't want that, I just want straight information which I can quickly scan or search for answers. If you want to be amused, this is your book. If you just want Photoshop information, look elsewhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is by far one of the best books on how to use Adobe PhotoShop CS3. I really learned a lot on lightroom techniques with PhotoShop. As an instructor for a local Community College in Adobe PhotoShop, I intend to use this book in the class. This is not a beginning book, but one for the advanced PhotoShop user, very informative.

.The Mac OS X Leopard Book

I'm a new MacBook user and not especially sophisticated, just email, pictures, internet and some word processing. After years of frustration with PCs I find the Mac a revelation--stable, intuitive and packed with innovative features.

I bought a few books to speed my transition and this is the best one. Each glossy page succinctly describes a separate task or a list of related tips (except for the rather lame chapter introductions). It's great fun to browse and I've learned many things about the OS I wouldn't have otherwise picked up, at least not as quickly.

This comprehensive but pithy guide is for the beginner/intermediate user and highly recommended.

I'm a just learning Photoshop, so this review is from a beginners point of view. Overall I think this is a great book. ; I like it the best compared to the other books I've briefly used.

The author walks you through easy-to-follow steps for each of his sections.

However, I'm still looking for a book that goes into the fine points of Photoshop CS2 functions, and describes each. Just one example would be to have an explanation of all the different "Modes" with-in the "Brush tool" I.e. normal, dissolve, darken, multiply, etc. What does each do, and when is the appropriate time to use each? Is there such a book?

Overall this is a great book if you want to learn great lessons for using PSCS2.
