Basically everything I was looking for in a book since it provides a good initial sense of Portland's neighborhoods and suburbs (basically which one's might be nice to live in and which one's sound terrible)

One area that could be improved are the maps in the book. They are a little weak and the could be indexed against the neighborhood descriptions.

I find Lonely Planet guidebooks the most practically useful of all travel guidebooks. I find the Montreal/Quebec City to be definitely no exception. Just the maps in the book make it extremely worthwhile...no other maps are needed. Interviews with Montreal/Quebec City residents provide informative and real insider information about the cities, as do sections on history, culture and the arts. Information is adequately up-to-date. I highly recommend this book for anyone making a trip to one or both of the cities.

This book has great info on planning trip to Vancouver and Whistler and now after reading about victoria, think I should add tht to the trip.

I really like these "Top 10" pocket guidebooks. They provide a lot of information and, best of all, fit nicely into my back pocket. [A trait that few other "pocket" guidebooks ever seem to achieve.]

However, this particular Top 10 guidebook -- Montreal and Quebec City -- only gets four stars because of various odd omissions.

There's no map of the Montreal Metro. Why not?

Although the book covers both Montreal and Quebec City, it neglects to provide information on how to get from one to the other. Is there a train? If so, how often does it run? How much does it cost? How long does it take? Are there busses? How long to drive from one city to the other by car? All this should have been described in ... Read More:

Nice concise descriptions and good details of places to see, visit, and things to do. Easy to follow format and the index was surprisingly good. Good tips for hiking in the Canadian Rockies. Nice small size made it easy to keep this resource in a backpack pocket.

just spent 10 days in the canadian rockies and this guidebook made the trip great. it's an amazing area and information in this book is well organized and let's you plan your trip well. one thing we did find off was the grading system for hikes, some "easy" hikes were definitely not. outside of that this guidebook was very complete and accurate, from sights, to restaurants and lodging. one of the best travel books i've ever used.

Good compact guide book. Has nice maps. The organization of the topics are a little odd. I wish there was more than a few pages on Victoria. Great if Vancouver is your main destination. Some of the "see page xx" references are not correct, the editor messed up on the cross referencing of topics.
