.Rand McNally Goode's World Atlas 21st Edition City Travel Guides > Books > Atlases by: J. Paul Goode, Howard, Ph.D. Veregin June 30, 2006 Goode's atlas is lacking in cohesiveness. The maps often are bound so far into the page it is difficult to find a map item that is close to the inside edge of the page. A map of a country often does not have the same detail for a bordering country on the same page (example: I would expect to see the area surrounding Basel, SW on the maps of Germany or France). .Me on the Map (Dragonfly Books) City Travel Guides > Books > Atlases by: Joan Sweeney July 13, 1998 I homeschool and this is a good book for teaching K and 1st grade kids their "place" in the world. It starts with a girl mapping her room and extends all the way to her place on the globe. She just got her Masters Degree and will probably be teaching Geography. She was extremely happy with the book. We have always assigned a reference atlas, and although we have tried various ones, this is the book we keep coming back to. It is cheap, indexed, up to date (revised pretty much constantly, although without always changing the ISBN), and sufficiently detailed to be consistently handy. One can always wish for more --it'd be nice if it showed Indian states and made Chinese provinces clearer, for example-- but in these days when it is easy to get additional detail as needed from the Internet, a small, easily grabbed first reference is more important. .National Geographic Atlas of the World, Eighth Edition City Travel Guides > Books > Atlases by: National Geographic October 01, 2004 National Geographic have compiled the most comprehensive blue-print of planet Earth and its surroundings. (the moon, mars, milky way etc) The book is well designed aesthetically and practically, beautiful in it's complexity but organized in a way thats easy to follow. it doesn't get any better than this. Most guests at my house notice the giant blue book pretty quickly and have shown nothing but amazed impressions. I definitely approve of this (honestly) hefty purchase. .Transit Maps of the World City Travel Guides > Books > Atlases by: Mark Ovenden October 30, 2007 An excellent book for cartographers and those interested in maps of transit systems around the world. Comprehensive would be an understatement, as the book truly lives up to its promise of including every transit map in the world. A bit more information on the systems themselves would have been nice, but I guess that's not what this book is about as much as the history of the maps of the systems.
