. Sunset (Sunrise Series-Baxter 3, Book 4)
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Karen Kingsbury

First of all, all of Karen kingsbury books are amazing. I have almost every single one, they move me to tears and really touch me. Her books are for so many audiences, I'm 21 and in college and am hooked. I even got my fiance reading her stories!
I was bittersweet about Sunset. Devastated to have the series end, but also happy at the way things turned out for all the characters. This book ties up all the loose hands in a great way. I was happy at how the ending turned out for each and every one of the characters I've come to know and love. They all got an ending they deserved.
This books takes a close look at marriage as well in many aspects. I enjoyed the focus on Luke and Regean's relationship and deteriorating marriage ... Read More:

. Jessie (Big Sky Dreams #3)
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Lori Wick
September 01, 2008
I am a huge Lori Wick fan, so pretty much if she writes it, I love it! She admits herself that this book kind of trickled for her and was rather difficult to write. I think in a way you can see that toward the end. I found myself a little frustrated with the main character's stubbornness and felt like the plot moved somewhat slower. However, I loved that she brought in a character from a previous series, and redeemed him so completely! I confess that I liked Seth Redding in the Yellow Rose trilogy, but I wished then that he'd come to Christ. So to have him appear in Jessie as that man made the book for me. A definite must-read for Lori Wick fans!

. A Voice in the Wind (Mark of the Lion #1)
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Francine Rivers
March 01, 1998
From Jerusalem to Rome to Ephesus, travel with Hadassah, a young slave girl, as she clings to her faith in the face of the decadence of Rome in "A Voice on the Wind". As usual, Francine Rivers crafts a beautiful work of fiction full of poignant and thoughtful moments that touch the heart. There is also plenty of action as the author brilliantly draws the reader into the breathtaking locations of her tale. She brings Biblical characters to life beside her fictional creations in this wonderful novel. I highly recommend this novel and am proud to have it in my collection.
This book also contains a very helpful glossary of terms and an invaluable discussion guide for use with any reading group.

. Finding Noel: A Novel
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Richard Paul Evans
October 03, 2006
The irony of fictional writing is that it works best when it comes from a real place. According to author Richard Paul Evans, the background story of his novel "Finding Noel," is drawn from the real-life story of Celeste Edmunds, a woman with whom he used to work.
As with his previous books, this is a personal work for Evans; he uses family names, origins, religion, illness and little slice-of-life things like recipes, traditions and tips to give a homey feel to his characters and story.
"Finding Noel" is also the first book of fiction that features a character diagnosed with eye cancer. Through the character Joette, Evans exposes millions of readers to this rare disease - only 2,000 adults are diagnosed each year - in a way that mainstream media and the inaccessible ... Read More:

There is only One that you can always depend on...
Hannah was raised in a traditional Old Order Amish family. She was only 17-years-old when she fell in love with Paul, an educated Mennonite. They knew their different backgrounds would lead to problems. However, the romance of Paul and Hannah acts as only the scenery behind this story. Through no fault of her own, tragedy struck Hannah. Not only does her family turn against her, so does Paul. Only her faith can carry her through the following events. Hannah finds herself questioning the Old Ways of her people.
This is a moving story of Hannah, her faith, and beliefs. ... Read More:

. The Parting (The Courtship of Nellie Fisher, Book 1)
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Beverly Lewis
October 01, 2007
Okay, the "five-star warning" is simply the fact that if you buy this "Book 1" of "The Courtship of Nellie Fisher" series, you will have to buy two more books. But you will enjoy doing it, for sure and for certain, the series by this leading Christian Fiction author, Beverly Lewis, is "wonderful-good".
From a male point of view: I enjoyed immensely reading of the division that happened in 1966 within the Amish community. The Old Order split as men and women of that faith began individual reading of the Gospel books and found grace, a previously ignored portion of the Bible. Men, women, even entire families, began thinking of God differently than what was allowed by the "rules of the Ordnung" as directed by the Amish Bishop. The struggle of faith and allowable worldly possessions (electric, tractors, ... Read More:

. An Echo in the Darkness (Mark of the Lion #2)
City Travel Guides > Books > Religious
by: Francine Rivers
March 01, 1998
I actually enjoyed this 2nd installment more because by now I had developed a "trust" with the author and allowed myself to invest more in my hopes and dreams for the characters. I enjoyed that I knew these characters as the book opened and started with a depth that allowed a deeper story. The power of love, patience, and allowing God to work even when He makes no sense to us at the time was heart-wrenching and fulfilling!
As with the 1st book in the Mark of the Lion Trilogy (Voice in the Wind), this 2nd installment is extremely well written, historical, spiritual, adventurous, romantic, with characters you love and those you don't ... you will ponder it when you set it down, find today's reality is revealed in a story from 2000 years ago, and be challenged with lessons for your own life. This is a ... Read More:
