I went into this book with the expectation it would shove a bunch of ideals down my throat, and try to turn me into a vegan. This couldn't be further from the truth. From the very start of The Omnivore's Dilemma, Michael Pollan simply presents the facts (and his own experiences) and leaves the rest up to you. This is a great pocket resource for both medical students and residents. The pages now have titles across each page and sections are broken down into individual subjects as compared to the previous (blue) version.

I am actually going to medical school soon and I decided to begin outlining what I need to do the ace the Step 1. This is not a book to simply skim or page through. Every piece of information in this book (sans the intro) seems to be a requirement for the Step 1. I think it would be an excellent foundation to build on.

Even though I am not in school yet, I found the text quite accessible and relatively easy to understand.

As an MD and ocxcasional patient, I think this book is a must for all of us. I gave it out as a present to my MD friends, to my private physician and to a cousin who is a very knowledgeable RN. This book is written with modesty, humor and empathy, things which some of us lack. I am not sure that all lay people will get the gist of it, but I recommend it highly.

Through my years of nursing school, the NCLEX exam grew to be a scary bugaboo that loomed after graduation. Out of fear, I purchased assorted NCLEX manuals, cards, and software to help me prepare. Regardless, my anxiety level was high. When a casual friend mentioned Kaplan's NCLEX-RN, I decided to allocate scant resources for yet another NCLEX manual. Happy Day! This book is different. It teaches Test Strategy. I learned techniques to calmly sift through alternatives and arrive at correct answers. On 'test day,' I walked into the exam area confident and relaxed. In less than one hour, I walked out the same way. The computer ended the exam after the minimum number of questions. PASSING SCORE! Thank You, Kaplan.

Everyone should buy this. It's way better than Netter's and is great to review before and after a gross anatomy lab.

I would just like to say that this sender wasted no time and I received the book promplty within the week that i ordered it. Also, the book was just as they promised it would be. Thank you very much. I have asked and paid extra for items to be expedited before and they still took forever.

For those who are wondering if the BRS Physiology book is worth it: IT DEFINITELY IS!!! I am very happy that I purchased it and know that I will be using it for decades... yes I said decades.

a nice complete review book with no mistakes, professionally and friendly written i find it more than helpful for my prep for step 2 ck , with a bonus of the online subscription that comes with the book
cons: the hematology and renal chapters need to be more inclusive, yet its a review and not a textbook, overall 5 stars

My score: 34M

BS: EXCELLENT review for science majors (non-science majors may need more background knowledge). The book is very clear on what should and should not be studied. My practice scores jumped from 10-13/14 after studying this material. Unfortunately, I choked in this section slightly on the real MCATs and that kept me from a score of 36 or 37.

VR: Decent strategies that made sense and worked for me. On average the practice and the tips upped me from 10 to 11 in this section.

PS: GOOD review for physical sciences. The equations they suggest you know are right on point. After working through this review section and memorizing the recommended equations, my score improved from 10 to 12.

I have been studying for the USMLE step 3 since Last May, I have bought a number of review books from nail the board to the recall as well as first aid step 3.

I have nearly completed the USMLEWORLD qbank and been doing kaplan Qbank and at this point, I was tempted to take a look at the so called "throughly updated", Crush step 3, which is false and misleading. They simply changed the coloring and layout of the same book and added a few tables for vaccinations and RA meds!

Its not really updated but they added such as "smoking is the number one modifiable cause of death" instead of older version, which was preventable...
