Before purchasing this book, I did a bit of research on the different guides available. One had a lot of advertisements, but was popular. It was more like a Frommers travel book. This one was written by the guy who actually used equipment relied upon by chartmakers for local depth soundings. You could tell by his "local" hints that he really took the time and effort to give you the insider's view. From recomming "Mr.Fantastic" (a local boat vendor who sold us delicious lobster), to recommendations on local restaurants at each of our island stops along the way, this book was fantastic. A very good book. Picked it up to check it out and was impressed at how comprehensive it is in regards to specific dives spots and charter outfits. I thought it was so useful that I am trying to find Volume 2.

This is the best, most comprehensive guide to Grenada we have found yet. As we are moving to Grenada, we had a challenge find information beyond the normal tourist spiel. The book was obviously written by a native Grenaian and she shares all kinds of insightful and sometimes humorous anecdotes on island life. I can see why she has updated the book so many times. Actually it could probably use updating once again as things seem to have changed again since hurricane Ivan in 2005. The book was last updated in 2000 I believe. Still, if you want to get the scoop on the character of Grenada, this book is the best, period.
