.The Rough Guide to Cyprus 5 (Rough Guide Travel Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Cyprus by: Marc Dubin September 19, 2005 In June, 2006 my wife and I traveled extensively through all parts of Cyprus by rental car and carried 4 recently published guidebooks. Even with Lonely Planet and DK carrying 2006 copyrights, neither could hold a candle to Rough Guide (Sept, 2005). Marc Dubin's work is not simply that of a traveler writing a guidebook, but like an expert presenting an insightful, informative, and balanced work. It added immensely to our enjoyment and understanding of Cyprus. The highlights section for each chapter provided an excellent overview of each region, and for the first time I found the maps to be even better than the ones in Lonely Planet. .Bitter Lemons of Cyprus City Travel Guides > Books > Cyprus by: Lawrence Durrell 2001-03 I wouldn't want to spoil the thing by saying too much, but it was a very interesting read, aside from being intensely pleasant. There's a certain delicacy, about death, and strife, and the drinking of wine. Durrell is well spoken and well informed: you might think, like I did, that the story of Cyprus isn't politically relevant. .Cyprus (EYEWITNESS TRAVEL GUIDE) City Travel Guides > Books > Cyprus by: DK Publishing February 20, 2006 I own about 40 DK Eyewitness Travel Guides and usually take one on my travels to complement a more thoroughly written guidebook like Rough Guide or Lonely Planet. The photos are always excellent, providing a fine visual overview of places. DK Cyprus, though, was perhaps the least useful DK Travel Guide that I have ever used. The descriptions of places were drier than Cyprus' summer weather, and the photos added little to what was in the more compact, less expensive DK Top 10 Cyprus book. .Top 10 Cyprus (EYEWITNESS TOP 10 TRAVEL GUIDE) City Travel Guides > Books > Cyprus by: DK Publishing May 31, 2004 Probably no independent traveler would want to have DK Top 10 as their only guidebook when traveling to Cyprus, but it is an excellent complement to a more thoroughly written guidebook like Rough Guide or Lonely Planet. The compact size, innumerable photos, and excellent organization make it a joy to carry, and provide many ideas for photographers who seek the best vantage points for their shots. DK Top 10 Cyprus is a fun book to peruse, simple to read, and very reasonably priced. .A Traveller's History Of Cyprus (Traveller's History) City Travel Guides > Books > Cyprus by: Timothy Boatswain April 30, 2005 When I borrowed this book from the public library and read it I knew I had to own it. My goal is to visit Cyprus in 2009 and this book has increased my desire to do so. I not only learned of the great history of Cyprus, but also of the world from my favorite periods, The Ptolemic times to the middle ages, to many events in history that I look at today and wonder where that stems from. This book really opened my eyes to how the history of not only Cyprus relates to the rest of the world, but how the world is conjoined together.
