What is Pride ? Is it `Pride' to Review a Classic ?

I've always loved the movie version of `Out of Africa' with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Whether it was the character development, or the wild life, or the Mozart throughout the film score, the symbiosis of all of the above consistently moves me & holds my attention. Then there were the excerpted portions of the book I was introduced to in Literature class. Somewhere among the multitude of reviews of this book are plenty of words to describe how I `feel' about the prose and the somewhat dis-similar treatment by the movie.

But who can compete with the authors own words ?

The graphics are great. It is a very beautiful guide. But the information in it is rather incomplete.
For example: If you want to go to any place (i.e. a museum), the guide tells you which bus/train/metro take, but doesn't tell you where to stop and what to do in order to get to the place from the bus stop. And the guide also lacks of "real" travelers information: which are the museums that haf discouns with the "copenhagen card", etc.
The guide doesn't seem to transmit if the author has a "hands on" experience. It is a rather "cold" book. You feel a profesional writer in the book, not a real traveler.

The positive thing about this book is its compact size, which makes it easy to tote around with you all day. It's got all the info you need to quickly make new plans as you go from one place to another--however, there are some inaccuracies, as I describe below. Like the other city "encounter" books, it is organized by neighborhood, with listings for "see, shop, eat, drink and play." The beginning of each section has a neighborhood map with the location of all the listings. There is also bigger pull-out map in the back of the book.

Half the fun of traveling is the trip planning. The pocket map is perfect for that & such a perfect size to travel with. I like to travel light. It includes a ton of information, so I leave the heavier guide books, that have already been read, home. Very durable & easy to view. Don't leave home without it.

Before you start, yes, I read this book cover to cover.

This is horrible, outdated, and dangerous advice. I don't care if someone has a fat kid who sleeps all the time (which is what the "ravers" are claiming). I want a healthy child, who has good sleeping habits (and that does NOT include sleeping through the night, especially at four months). This lady needs to accept the fact that hey, things have changed since she went to medical school. There's what, 50 more years of research that she's ignoring.

The SIDS rate has gone down drastically, and it has nothing to do with sheepskin. It's sleeping on their back. And guess what? Do some research on that - babies sleep "safer", and that doesn't mean through the night. If you want your ... Read More:

I've read "Appointment in Jerusalem" at least a dozen times. And each time I find more that applies to my life. My copy of the book is so highlighted and I take it out of the bookcase to re-read and look at the highlighted phrases and passages often. Lydia was a brave woman and truly followed what she felt God was saying and showing her. Out of my whole library this a my "must" book, and if I had to save any books from destruction, say a fire, I'd grab my Bible and "Appointment in Jerusalem." Derek Prince is one of my favorite teaching authors and he and Lydia did wonderfully in this book. It truly captivated my heart, and after going to Israel two years ago, I knew more of her heart. My desire is to return to the land that captivated my heart...a place I know I belong.
