All in all, in my 3 years living in Belgium, I found this a really helpful guide book. Prices are always wrong in guidebooks, but I found the contact information (web, address, phone) nearly always right, and the descriptions accurate.

You will be very challenged to find another guidebook that has this level of coverage of Belgium in its entirety, as most seem to focus on Brussels, Gent, Bruges, and perhaps Antwerp. Belgium seems to typically be an afterthought on most tourists' itineraries.

I really enjoyed the author's picks, both hotels and restaurants. What can I say to the other reviewer where the hotel unfortunately cancelled their booking because they found a group that would pay them more? Is that the ... Read More:

I traveled to Belgium in 1999 on a whim, for a long weekend in Antwerp, with about three days' notice. It was the best trip to Europe I've ever made. First, let me give you five really good reasons to go to Belgium and Luxembourg.

1) Since they are somewhat off the beaten path (with the possible exception of Brugge (Bruges), in Flanders), they're cheap. You can get top quality accommodations, food, and beer for about half what you would expect to pay for similar quality in Paris, Cologne or Amsterdam.
2) If well-preserved, but still functioning, medieval towns are your thing, consider this for a moment: Antwerp, Brugge, Ghent, Namur, Mechelen, Leuven. Any questions?

We traveled to Brussels and Ghent in August and used this guide extensively. I definately would recommend this for your travels to Belgium!

We just returned from an awesome Beer Tour of Belgium. I was attempting to get a map locally (In the Santa Cruz County, CA area). None to be found at any bookstore. All out. Help. Then I remembered good old Amazon. Got on line and found one and it was shipped in time to go on the trip with us. Got to spend a wonderful evening with our itinerary the day before we left finding and circling the tiny towns and big cities we were going to visit.

I just received my copy, but I have not yet used it while traveling.

It looks like this 2007 edition is up to the standards of the classic green guides, dense with cultural information, printed on fine quality paper, and in a wonderful format easy for toting along and reading on a train.

However, it's not vinyl bound as Amazon's listing states...it appears to be a paperback (which is what Michelin's own site admits to). It's just fine for traveling, but while other companies are moving to plasticized bindings that are water proof and wear well after being shoved into backpacks and backpockets, Michelin seems to have taken a small step back. Don't misundertand, the quality of binding is excellent, it would just be a little ... Read More:

Having just returned from a visit to the Netherlands and Belgium, we found this paperback guide to be very useful, particularly in regard to day trips and sites a bit off the beateb track. While it is easy to find information about popular sites, we often got the lowdown on less well-known places such as Kasteel de Haar in the Netherlands, a great castle which we didn't read about anywhere else. We didn't stay at any of the listed hotels, but did use restaurant recommendations with success. Appendices on history were well written and fun too. Recommended.

This book rocked! We made last-minute travel plans to Brussles with no idea of what we would find once we got there. The book contains practical and interesting walking tour maps of plenty of towns worth visiting. This came in quite handy when we began taking the trains throughout Benelux using Brussels as our hub.
Of all the books we brought with us on the trip (Frommers, Fodor, Time Out and others), This book turned out to be the most useful of all and was the most dog-eared by the end of our two weeks.
We only used one of the restaurant reccomendations -- no great shakes, but then again, that was not what the book was for.
