Having just returned from a visit to the Low Countries, we found this guide to be very helpful. Though it does not go off the beaten path, concentrating instead on the major cities, it does cover those cities well, with transportation information as well as hotel and restaurant recommendations which we found reliable. Maps show the metro stops, which is handy, and the book includes walking tours of the cities and some museums. Recommended.

Nobody in my family has Down syndrome, but I still found this book to be well written. It is not a how to book, it is simply the experiences of a mother who was surprised at birth with premies, including one premie with Down Syndrome. It is not a happy happy uplifting I'm so grateful for all my blessings book but it is an honest story of the work, the shock, the complicated set of feelings, the processing of said feeling, and the reactions of friends and family. I was left with a determination to keep up with this family and especially darling Avery.

The guide bood for amsterdam was a very effective book for my recent trip to holland.
i enjoyed the photographs and the offers for tours.
all in all - i highly recommend this book for tourists from all over the world.
one comment - not enough maps - this was a problem for me!

This well written & mesmerizing book is about one man's journey through Europe & his life. He distills all his experiences into his trek, how he approaches it & how he sees it. I have just started reading this but am looking forward to a long, satistying relationship with his other writings.

This map would be great if it were about twice as large, but so much is crowded into this tiny folding map that you need a BIG magnifying glass just to see it. A much better map is in the back of the Eyewitness "Pocket Map and Guide Amsterdam"

A bit disappointed in the useablility of the book. I've used many Lonely Planet books before, and generally like them. The layout of the book leaves a bit to be desired. The descriptions of attractions and restaurants are pretty good, but where the book falls down is that then you need to look up the map the attraction is on (at the back of the book), then look in the index of the map (behind the map), and then back to the map to find the attraction/restaurant.

It would have been much better if they put those references beside the descriptions as well as the index of the map.

In addition, being in the Netherlands, Windmills are nice attraction, and the book said that we had to go on an excursion to near by towns to find Windmills. The ... Read More:

I love these little city notebooks. I can carry it in my purse on my travels and it doesn't take up much room. It has a wonderful little city map that is quite useful. I love it!

She talk about ALL the details you need, the equipment, the clothes, the type of bike, everything you can or can't imagine, all the trafic signs and the diferent words in Dutch that you can need for you trip.
All the routes are very good explained, with a lot of details, road signs, maps. She includes a lot of tips to make more comfortable your plannig and development of your trip.
Very good decision if you plan bike trips by reading diferent books
