In preparing for a trip to Eastern Europe I picked up this book out of curiosity, although I was not planning to visit either of these two countries. Now I am! Rick Steves' enthusiasm for historical and natural sights, as well as for the people here, has opened a whole new world of interest for me. I only hope the countries are as fascinating as the book.

As in all of his books, Steves states his approach to travel clearly: he doesn't cover everything in both countries, just the "best" places, the best according to him, of course. If your tastes and orientation align with his (interesting, moderately priced travel, including as much local immersion as is reasonable), then you can rely on his books to provide the wonderful backbone ... I purchased this guide book when I found out I would be visiting Serbia for business, mostly because it was the only guide to Serbia in English I could find. I was pleasantly surprised at the cultural background, political and social context, and historical perspective that this book provided. Before I even stepped on Serbian soil, I had a sense of what mysteries I was in store to explore. Repeatedly in my week visiting half of Serbia, my hosts would remark how I knew of little-known tidbits about this town, or that restaurant. Very impressive first impression and makes me want to check out other Bradt guides. If you're visiting Serbia, this is a MUST HAVE.

I love this book. It's small enough to just throw in your bag and go when you are exploring a new city. Since moving to Budapest, it has come in handy several times over - and the pronunciation is superb! It has every helpful phrase you need when traveling abroad!

I think this book could be used for travelers of any age - though the "romance" section may be limited to the younger population.

One thing I would like to see in future publications though is maybe a map of the city - or at least a map of the metro.

I would buy this book - and others from the series - without hesitation in the future. I am a huge fan of Lonely Planet products so having this book in my library is just the icing on the cake!

Well written and conceived. The brief history was helpful to help understand the people and the circumstances of the people today. The diet section was great. In describing the various geographic areas of the country I would have liked more pictures. The written explanations were great but never having been to the country, more pictures would have helped. I think it would be a great addition if there were internet video links to get a really good feel for the geography.

The data seems to be very accurate.

To my delight this map included Hungary in addition to the countries mentioned. This was perfect for us since we fly into Budapest before driving into Croatia. There isn't quite as much detail as I have seen on some maps but for me the broader area view works well. It's easy to see how to get from city to city and all our expected travel on one map. Be aware that there are no city inserts that you find on some maps so if you need that you'll have to find that detail another way.

Annalisa Rellie has written a smart, indgithful and passionate survey of this fascinating small country. Her descriptions tend towards the poetic but her insight is strong. It's a thorough and authoritative guide which I found to be really practical and useful. Well done Mrs. Rellie, and well done Bradt.

This is the best travel book about Kosovo - highly informative, balanced approach to the diverse ethnicities, easy to read, and properly presents Kosovo as welcoming to visitors with fantastic natural beauty and travel costs significantly below most of Europe. Although I have been to Kosovo several times during the last few years, this book has opened my eyes to what I have missed.

First let me say that I have the utmost respect for Paula Huntley and her husband, for what they did, and for the lives they touched. Her writing was just enough to show the day to day lives of these people who have gone through so much. I wish more people would take a more active role in the world around them. It would be a better world if they did.

However, the more I read the book the more frustrated I got. The book was a collection of horrific stories. People need to know that this happened. But much was missing.
