some tips are interesting, but some I've heard before. The book had a difficult time keeping my interest since the entries are so short and unrelated in terms of organization.

Very useful book. Perhaps a litte too much detail, but the universal packing lists, esp. for children. are excellent. I now have an index card with a packing list for my daughter which makes things a lot easier.

I am getting ready to purchase my first RV, and I love this book! It starts with the basics like A-class vs c-class vs trailer, etc. Then it continues on to describe each system that you might encounter and how to tell if it is operating correctly. It doesn't give nitty-gritty schematics -- that is for owner manuals. It is laid out such that if you are getting ready to purchase a used (or even new) model, you can go step-by-step over the systems and have a real good idea of what you are getting yourself into.

As an example - I never would have thought to ask the dealer if they would sterilize the water tank before we purchase the used unit. I am not a mechanic, so I never would have checked under the hood or chassis. After reading ... Read More:

I came to this book AFTER I'd been traveling regularly to France. It's a delight, and I only wish I'd found it before. Polly Platt is an entertaining and insightful writer. With a better understanding of French customs and quirks, you will enhance your experience in France, whether it's a short vacation or a long-term stay.

This is a great book for putting together a cheap, fun, and exciting vacation to a far away place! It gives you the basic details about each country so that you can figure out if the country is right for you. This is NOT a comprehensive guide. It does not go into too much detail but it gives you a feeling for what you can expect when traveling to the different places. I have already shared this book with all of my family and friends.

The author has a wealth of knowledge and an immense amount of experience with world travel. He also has a great sense of humor and keeps the book fun to read.

The only problem I find with this book is that every time I read a chapter, I am overwhelmed with wanderlust!!

WOW, such a tiny little book that is just crammed full of everything you really need to know, about traveling through Italy!

This book though, only gets into a few reasons for exploring the world, describing only a few benefits that are at the tip of the iceberg. The rest if mostly a how-to guide that covers some practical aspects of it. So far, there hasn't been a book that addresses all the deep real life reasons for living overseas. In short, it talks only about the HOW of expatriation, not the WHY. And shouldn't the WHY be dealt with first? That's what all these authors seem to be missing, except for me. Perhaps the "WHY" reasons are taboo?

GOod ideas in the book, but somehow the style of the drawings appear to be very old fashioned. I loved the gadget and travel tip boxes that are all over the book. The tricks for packing different types of bags are excellent.

I bought Traveler's Tool Kit because I loved Guatemala and am considering a trip to other countries in the region. The book told me everything I wished I'd known on my Guatemala venture and I need to know to choose which other countries I want to see. It's specific about itineraries, costs, food, health, safety and available adventures.

This is really two books for the price of one. Beyond Central America, it contains comprehensive information and advice that I can use to travel anywhere in the world and deals with the obstacles that keep many people from enjoying the rest of the world - like money, time, safety, and health.
