. Knopf MapGuide: Florence (Knopf Mapguides)
City Travel Guides > Books > Knopf

This map was an enourmous help on my trip to Florence. The pages fold out into large maps of each portion of the city. The recommended things to see are spot on and the descriptions give a great idea of what you are in store for. I used this so much that I found myself reaching for it when I was looking for my Italian phrase book (this is not a language guide). I highly recommend it.
Also, the map does not go much further south than Porta Romana, so if you are staying south of the city I recommend grabbing a cheap paper map that covers the south end of the city.
One thing worth noting is that I could not find some of the recommended stores. I assume they have moved or closed their doors since this was published.

. Knopf MapGuide: London (Knopf Mapguides)
City Travel Guides > Books > Knopf

This is definitely not the book to use to plan your trip to London, since the descriptions of the attractions are little more than blurbs, but this is absolutely the best map you could have. It's compact, easy to read, and the maps have twice the detail of any other map I've seen. I threw out the map I got with Frommer's guide (Frommer's was largely useless anyway) because it only labelled the main streets. Knopf's labels almost every street, which was a huge help when walking around the city. It's wonderful to find the street you are currently walking down on the map instead of having to wait until you hit a major intersection to figure out where you are. If you're going to London, get this book. You'll be glad you did when you don't have ... Read More:

. Knopf MapGuide: Stockholm (Knopf Mapguides)

I'm not sure that I would describe it as the only travel guide you'll need to get around Stockholm seamlessly, but it comes pretty close. The design is brilliant, simple, and user-friendly. The book is lightweight, compact, and pretty resilient. While it does demarcate tourist destinations, restaurants, within each neighborhood...it is only a small glimpse of what is available. That said, if you know what you want to see, you can coordinate with your list or other book, and then just bring this handy mapguide along.
I'll definitely be purchasing the Knopf Mapguide for other trips.

. Knopf Guide to The Holy Land
City Travel Guides > Books > Knopf

This guide is beautiful, complete, and truly in-depth. For example, there is a fold out section showing the route Jesus followed carrying his cross. It notes all of the details including where he fell, where certain icons are -- everything you could want to know. The Knopf Guide also will make a great souvenir of your trip. Contrary to what another writer has said here, this book certainly recognizes Israel. As the Lonely Planet guide points out, there is much in dispute about this area, and it's easy to offend one group or the other. Any attempt to present a balanced view of history and of the three religions which center their faith here must tread carefully with names and facts. The Knopf Guide excels in this area. I'd ...
