My husband, who has a fondness for detailed maps, absolutely adores this map of Ireland. Compared to the other ones we looked at, it was by far the largest and most detailed, showing the most towns and cities and roads on one map. Other maps only show you main cities and main roads and the color coding can be distracting. This map is clear and has a very extensive legend showing places of interest and historical sites.

We are using this map to plan our trip to Ireland. It's tacked up on the wall so as we look through travel guide books, we can find the locations on the big map and plan our driving trip accordingly.

As for using this map while actually in Ireland remains to be seen. I doubt the size will lend itself ... Read More:

This is a great map! A fantastic combination with the in-car navigation. It definitely would not have been as easy to get around Scotland without it!

Bot this to plan a 3 wk. car trip to Tuscany, Umbria & Lazio & brought it along for using during the entire trip. Absolutely fantastic! Even when we missed a turn because a road sign was misplaced or missing, we could still figure out where we were and how to get to our final destination easily with this map. Michelin's maps always work superbly for us, and that's all we use whenever we're doing a car trip on our own for countries they map.

Our family recently spent a week touring Provence in a rental car. This map was absolutely invaluable to us - all roads from the large autoroutes to the more rural "departmental" roads are clearly indicated. The mileage/travel time chart was also extremely helpful in planning our day trips. We had several maps with us, but by the end of the second day this was the only one we used.

This map was easy to read, gave us enough detail for driving to various locations throughout the country and was very practical. The only problem was when driving on the roads in Greece, none but the super-highways has any route markers. We drove for miles and miles on state highways and never once saw a route sign. You have to navigate by destinations toward a city or village. (So that's not a fault of the map.)

I purchased Michelin Battle of Normandy Map No.102 to help us guide ourselves around Normandy this spring while looking for war ruins such as bunkers, and memorials and cemetaries. The map is very detailed and was excellent for planning the trip before arriving in France. However, after driving in Normandy, I was startled that I could actually depend on this map for navigation! Even though it is a map from the 40's, many things have not changed in Normandy! While some cemetaries that were identified on the maps are no longer US cemetaries (for example, we exhumed our dead from a current German cemetary and reburied them in the US cemetary near Omaha beach), practically every other feature identified on the map is accurate.
