This book is a must-read for anyone with an interest in human behavior, the criminal process, Chicago, Clarence Darrow or political ambition, among many other things. Baatz has taken a chilling and complex case and made it terrifically readable and exciting. His meticulous research assures the reader that s/he is reading non-fiction, yet Baatz is a superb storyteller and the book reads like a great piece of fiction. All of these events took place in my neighborhood in Chicago, and I now find it easy -- and creepy -- to picture the parties to this crime on my streets. I can't praise this book enough, I hope someone makes a movie of it that is faithful to this well-told story.

I was unimpressed with this book. Many in my class struggled because of the way the book was thrown together.
My main problems are the lack of explanation for key concepts, other than a reference to a cut-down case and the questionable decision to use cases that don't clearly explain the issue at hand.
I was thrown off at first when I couldn't find some of the cases in Lexis or WestLaw. Rather than relying on an on-topic US SC case or even a Fed circuit case, some key concepts get examples that are unpublished lower-court decisions where the judge makes either the wrong decision or the right decision for the wrong rulings. I haven't actually used this product in class yet as I'm just getting my books together for the fall semester but I have looked it over and it looks to be very informative of business law with examples and definitions etc. I can't however say it is or will be a pleasure to read I bought it because it's required for my business law class not because I wanted to.

The only disapointing problem about this "digital" Bundle is that there is NO software. Instead you download a kind of "browser" that is in your toolbar, Much like a Google/Yahoo toolbar. So if you are off line, this does not work, disappointing to me. It is not as readily accessible as a software install that is always there when you need it. I have gained more use from the book than the software, so I would recommend you buy something else for your $$ such as the full version of Black's Law than this software. You can copy/cut and paste the info from the website directly into your paperwork is a good benefit though.

Order what I thought was the book, but it was the study guide so I had to reorder a book. The study guide was in great shape and it was a great deal. Just not what I needed.

Philip Gourevitch, in We Wish to Inform You, has accomplished an incredible feat: a moral and reasoned history of an insane situation. He manages to cut through all of the misinformation that we so often hear about the Rwandan Genocide and write something truly informative.

Other reviews on Amazon have complained about his focus on the political/violent situation in the entire region, but I strongly disagree. How are we to understand the genocide without its context and without the context that it created in nearby countries? I also found myself very interested in Rwanda's (and the region's) possibilities for a decent future.

This is being used as a text for a graduate level class. It is enjoyable to read, interesting, lucid, and well organized. The index and glossary are well structured. The authors make excellent use of bold text within the material and have plenty of helpful sidebar notes.
