Joseph Schumpeter once encouraged his readers to make up their mind whether they wanted simple or useful answers, because both could not be had at the same time. Mankiw opts for the former option. A student who knows little about economics and who will be exposed to the discipline for the first time by using this textbook will get a very narrow view of economics. He or she will have no idea that there are strong disagreements about economic phenomena and even different schools of thought. This can be expected: Mankiw is a neoclassical economist, that school is dominant for one reason or another, so few would expect him to go out of his way to point out that there are different intellectual traditions in economics. Intermediate Accounting, Update
Intermediate Accounting is a comprehensive, attractive textbook. The usefulness of the exercises is curtailed by the lack of an answer section. I guess it is a marketing ploy to produce workbooks separately instead of providing even abbreviated answers in textbooks, nowadays. Apart from this deficiency, the book is very useful for studying accounting principles.

This book gets my highest rating. Probably one of the most important books I've read on contemporary culture. Ranks up there with Noam Chomsky and G. Edward Griffin's "The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve". READ THIS BOOK !!!

The only reason I gave two stars to this book is because at least Ehrenreich tried to write about an important topic. But her execution falls well below the mark, and the book turns out to be more about a journalist pretending to be a low-income worker than about the lives of the low-income workers she's supposedly studying. It is, by turns, whiny, preachy, self-righteous, facile, and annoying -- much more often than it's insightful, which it is maybe a handful of times (if that) throughout the book. (The footnotes were actually among the most informative parts.) At times she even seems to be making fun of the workers with whom she briefly shared her life. This book and the service surrounding it is absolute garbage. The positive reviews it has received are highly dubious. The book is very unclear with terminology, and the lack of answer keys to check your progress makes this worse. If you're buying this used be prepared to wade through red tape to get access to an answer key. 70 bucks for a single semester of access, and you won't have access as soon as you pay, you will also need a url from your instructor to access the site. I understand why this is needed for your class specific information but to simply access the sites tools, like an answer sheet, should not require anything more than your subscription...actually it should have come with the book.

This text is for intermediate level business and finance students, and is very informative and well written. I read it two times with great pleasure. It is not boring, even for those outside the field (I must admit I did not work the problems though!). I highly recommend it.

arrived early. came in a very thin cardboard armor. small bend in the corner of the hardcover's cover, but aside from that all perfectly new. if seller included another layer of protection aside from the corrugated cardboard, it would have been perfect.
