I would go so far as to call this book subversive. That's pretty much the best word for it. If, like me, you've grown up being told about the benefits of hard work, 8 till 8 days, 6 days a week, just one holiday a year, and just pay a shedload of taxes like everyone else to support cretins in government, then this book comes as a revelation. For years now I've suspected that this treadmill was a lie (and I'm pretty successful too) generated by adevertisers who want us to consume and governments who want a share of the sweat off our brow, then along comes this young guy and tells it like it really is.

I casually bought this book assuming it was based on science...what a mistake!!! The author uses terms such as "energy" in the loosest and most irresponsible way...He draws lines where in reality there are none, in order to equate "wave" and "quantum" energy to mean the "healing energy" in some alternative medicine therapies. He further equates quantum physics to "mysterious" and "unexplained" paranormal phenomena...not to mention debunked and unverified phenomena! But the efficacy of alternative healing is not even questioned in this book-it is presented as effective and unresearched. The author expects the reader to make a leap of faith-if you accept quantum physics, then you must also accept alternative healing- based soley on the misuse of terms. ... Read More:

I didn't know that Esther is possessed by a slew of Spirits who call themselves "Abraham"? Reading the preface of this book, her husband Jerry talks about how Ester learned how to "channel" through, or into her body "Abraham." Esther mentions her husband was involved with the Ouija board game, and Esther didn't like being around him when he would talk to others about it. According to Jerry she was afraid of things like that including the movie "The Exorcist" and possessions, or any devil activity. Marcus Buckingham is truly an inspiring writer and this book really helps one identify their great strengths. I loved this book. Also highly recommend "Running with the Rhinos" by Christian Warren as a companion book. excellent insight in terms of leading with your strengths.

This book is one of the best I've ever read. Some people assume that once one has what it takes to advance in one's career, there's no stopping one. This book makes a solid case that many people who achieve initial success later reach a ceiling that has nothing to do with their abilities - it is determined by their weaknesses. This book describes a clear methodology for determining and addressing 20 common weaknesses. Further, the book illustrates many of these so clearly that it was possible for me to see some of them in myself directly. Probably the best thing about the book, is that it points out relatively simple ways almost anyone can improve their interpersonal skills. I am a second year MBA candidate at Columbia Business School and in the thick of interview prep. I have a stack of case prep materials and had no idea to begin. When I asked my friends who have successfuly gone through the process, i.e. they're all heading back to top consulting firms, they said I should stick to Case in Point.

They were right. Case in Point is by far the best case book out there. The book's lighthearted approach helps you dissect cases and the Ivy Case System makes breaking these problems down simple. It helps you organize your thinking to focus on the key aspects of the case- something that interviewers are definitely looking for. I'd like to underscore the comments of others regarding the numerous typos and overall sloppy editing of both the book and CD. It's one thing to have some typos, but it's another thing to have information missing from graphs and completely garbled reading comprehension passages. That some of this information was intended to be there is usually made obvious by the explanations. This will prove frustrating if you're trying to get an accurate gauge of where you stand, especially with the computer based testing. (i.e. If you get wrong answers because information was missing or mistyped, you are still wrong and get different questions than you would have otherwise.)

It's a good book and helpful, but there is too much religious reference in the beginning and the end about god and your mission in life and all that. Not everyone is religious and not everyone believes in god (or Bolle's version of one) . It really has no place in this book unless the book is subtitled "A practical manual for Christian job hunters." I hope the 2009 version is toned down or at least gives some warning to those of us who may find it a bit bias.
However it does has some helpful hints about thank you notes and interviews that I found useful.
