If you are a fan of the previous Promise books, don't bother with this one. The characters are underdeveloped and the book has about as much steam as an undercooked baked potato. If this is what her new publisher brings, she has lost a fan.

I just discovered Debbie Macomber as an author when I read her more recent book, "Twenty Wishes". After reading it, I found the earlier books of her'Blossom Street'series and then couldnt find enough of her work to read. I have thoroughly enjoyed all her series and her Heart of Texas series is no exception. The men and women of Promise, Texas are all ordinary people, in the best sense of the word. It is a study in what happens when bad things happen to good people. The running mystery in the series is the 'ghost town', Bitter End. It seems to strike fear in all their hearts, even though the truth of its desolation is buried with their grandparents. The book was better than I thought it would be.The story between colby and channing was unbeleivably great. Looking forward to the next story of gemma and cash. What I want to know is what is going to happen with trevor and edgard. I think that would be interesting.

This is one of those classic novels that you could read again and again. I hadn't read it since high school twenty years ago and just re-read Christy last week. I like it even better now than I did then (and I loved it then, too). I would have loved to have had Catherine Marshall's version of a sequel (hopefully it would have consisted of a continuation of Neil & Christy's romance), but I guess we get to imagine the "happily ever after" instead. It's a great read!

This is another wonderful book by Diana Palmer. Her stories about Jacobsville, TX and it's residents are very entertaining. No one combines romance, comdey, and drama the way she does.
