My son loved this book. My son has ADHD and it is torture for me to get him to sit still and read or do homework. I purchased this book on a whim and hoped he would at least look at it. My son is 8 1/2 and blew through this book in 3 weeks, I bought the second one and he read that one in less than a week1!

Jeff Kinney's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"-series are an excellent way to "trick" people into becoming readers. The books read fast, they're very funny (sometimes laugh out loud funny), the pictures liven up every page, and they can appeal to a wide age group.

Adults will read the books and fondly remember similar adventures of their youth. Children and teens can read them to laugh at the misadventures of our "hero"...who's equal parts wimp and miscreant.

Rodrick Rules keeps the pace set in the original novel and offers nice segues towards topics like: spending unwanted time with one's mother, playing role-playing games, teen house parties, procrastinating unwanted school projects, being "cool" in front of girls, and holidays ... Read More:

I have only recently started into graphic novels, but out of the ones I have read I would rate the batmans from best to least favorite as follows:

1)Dark Knight Returns
2)Long Halloween
3)Killing Joke
4)Dark Victory
5)Batman: Year One

Long Halloween has a great story (which continues in Dark Victory), great art style, and is just fun to read. Highly recommended.

I ordered the comic, because I was dying to find out what happened after the last episode. Though I am glad to know which characters are doing what,... I was thoroughly dissapointed in the comics. I have never been a comic book reader, and will remain that way. I am a huge Buffy fan and will always hope that the series will come back to TV, or go on in actual books.

Excellent read for any age. It feels real and is funny as heck with beautiful, fresh illustrations. Totally appropriate in every way as well. I read it to my 8 and 5 year old brothers and had the entire family listening in. I recommend it to anyone who loves stories.

In this book, Neil Gaiman writes roughly six words for each letter of the alphabet and Grimly draws pictures of a kid in a sewer. The text isn't particularly special, but when the entire book would fit on a greeting card or the back cover of a real book, i suppose there's not much you can do to wow people. Gaiman's a good writer but even he would need two paragraphs to say anything interesting. The pictures are really cute and are the only reason to read (look at?) this book. It's a cute book, but awfully expensive for what you get

I have to admit that most of my exposure to Gaiman is through the hands of other artists. In fact my introduction to Gaiman was via Dave McKean. While I did not read the printed version of "Coraline" the graphic edition caught my eye and I picked it up and found I could not put it down. Russell's visual adaptation gave me enough to establish boundaries, but left enough open visually for the head to bring the pages to life. I find interesting the genre of materials (books, movies, graphic novels, music) that are related through the eyes of children, but are best experienced by adults. "Coraline" fits this mold well. I watched Jan Svankmajer's "Little Oti" last night--I would place that in this pool as well.
