Domino Magazine came on the scene in 2005 just three short years ago. It melded fashion and decor and immediately energized the shelter magazine market, appealing to 20 to 40 year olds, and finding an even wider Baby Boom audience. Its hip and refreshing "how to" attitude to creating your own pretty decor soundly resonated.
Even the professional designers presented had a homey approach using revamped flea market finds, big box store items, and their own personal products.
It provided a "power to the people" approach. Everyone can shop at a flea market, Target, CB2, or eBay, etc. The message is: Everyone has access to a happy looking and pretty home.

I bought this book recently and have found some very detailed information for cooking without electricty, building shelter and other important information. Although at the moment it is in the house, it might be good to keep it in the family car.

I purchased this book because I am interested in doing what I can to be "green". I saw the author on the Today Show and it seemed like the book would be very good for ideas for cleaning up my home. I knew her husband was CEO of Shaklee and expected some mention of the company products. However, I didn't think I would read about Shaklee numerous times in every chapter.

The book seems to be focused more on promoting Shaklee than providing green information. I stopped reading after several chapters because the constant mention of Shaklee products was, for me, a distraction from the content.

I read the negative reviews for this book before I purchased it. Nevertheless, I still ordered it. While the book is kinda like a phonebook type of product, the information in it is priceless. It covers so many topics. I strongly recommend it.

written by a brilliant woman trained in child psychiatry whose path was influenced by a need to heal the damages of her own childhood. That's How the Light Gets In: Memoir of a Psychiatrist by Susan Rako, M.D. owes its title to a song by Leonard Cohen: "There is a crack, a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." Rako's book is remarkably candid, fascinating, and wonderfully well-written. It's a great read. The writing just flows.

It is a pretty good book for showing you the mechanics of how to build and maintain different areas of the farm. It gives good information on how to raise different livestock. It is not something you would want to just read right through and go start a farm. It is more like something you could look at whenever you need some tips. The best way to learn how to start a farm would be to see if you could work on somebody you know's farm. Either just to help out or for an actual job.
