This book has great ideas, but I would NOT recommend reading it from start to finish as soon as you get it. The book is packed w/so much information that it is overwhelming at first, especially for a newly engaged bride. And the book tends to paint a negative picture of the wedding industry, which left me feeling somewhat hopeless. Rather I found it most helpful to read in sections when I was working out the details for specific parts of the wedding such as attire, reception, ceremony, etc. The oddest thing about the book is that it jumps around from one topic to another in a disorganized fashion. The chapters are broken down into topics, but the authors allude to other parts of the book in each chapter of it.

After I searched and searched at the bookstore for the right book I came across this one and thought it was the best match for me. I am a very organized person and this planner and organizer is exactly how I wanted things to appear in the book. There are many pages to write in your possible vendor information when comparing which one you want to go with. Also lots and lots of inspiration pictures at the beginning of the book and they are pictures of weddings that are in style with the trends going on right now. Many pages full of tips and "do and dont's". The only thing I didn't like about this (and a very small detail) is that the write-in pages don't leave you a lot of room to write in stuff. This was a fun little work book. I used it as a wedding gift to my husband. He has really enjoyed reading through it--and all of my little comments. Basically, its a series of fun, serious, and quirky questions about how you feel towards your significant other. It makes a fun gift...but it isn't anything that would qualify as a marriage fixer or relationship rescue.

Simple Stunning Weddings has beautiful visual images to get the gears turning towards planning a gorgeous event. The book didn't meet up to my expectations as far as being a guide for designing & creating the "perfect celebration", but I definitely appreciated the ideas it gave me & will use this book as a visual guide for color schemes, floral arrangements, etc.

I purchased this book because I was interested in learning how to make wedding cakes. My first, which wasn't even a wedding cake, it was my neice's 3rd birthday cake, came out so beautifully. I used the recipes for the Vanilla Bean Sponge Cake and the Chocolate Butter Cake...both were PHENOMENAL and I got rave reviews. I even had three people inquire about me making cakes for them!!! Although some of the recipes may seem a little tedious, I truly believe that it is the small things that you do that make these cakes wonderful. They take time (LOTS of time...mine took about 15 hours from start to finish!!!) and cutting corners does not get you the best results. I also pre-ordered this book and found it a little dissapointing. I purchased her first book and was expecting a whole lot more. There are no instructions for the cakes, beautiful pictures, but no instructions and the recipes are the same as the first book.
