As always, David Pogue's Manuals are useful, necessary, informative and a delight to read. It took care of some of my apprehensions and opened most of the doors.

One practical suggestion. When it deals with iPhone's intrusive Auto Suggestions, the most important piece of advice
"To ignore the suggestion, tap it with your finger" (p.20)
should be surrounded by NEON.

In one instance the Manual and my iPhone substantially disagree. Page 35 says that the owner's "phone number appears at the very top of the Contacts list..." (if Contacts is opened from within the Phone module). This is not the case on my phone. There is no way that I can find my own phone number on the All Contacts pane. My fault, perhaps. ... Read More:

I opened this book today for some help with selection. You know, when you use masks or the quick selection tool to isolate an area to change something limited to that area. It doesn't exist!

Furthermore, Scott writes in a jocular style in which he explains things by telling stories, as if he were speaking to a child. I don't want that, I just want straight information which I can quickly scan or search for answers. If you want to be amused, this is your book. If you just want Photoshop information, look elsewhere.

The Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering is a book on software project management by Fred Brooks, whose central theme is that "Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later." This is an excellent book. Still reading it, but the information presented is easy to understand and the technical material is very good. The book summarizes each section and provides very good tips throughout the book which are applicable and type of best practices.

It took a while before I decided to read this book... Let me say... There's a lot of information that helped me understand various concepts... It's not just about REST... it's also about all the different architectures that make the Web we currently know and use. The Author explains and compares in details, giving lots of code examples in many languages. I personally code with Ruby on Rails, but it's not just about Rails, it's about Django, etc... (framework) and other programming languages than Ruby(Python, Java, etc...).

For the first time, I clearly understand how to create programs that can be read and understood by several MACHINES (computers) via the HTTP protocol...
