A bouhgt several different NY guides, but this map was the one I used most. It's small enough that you can open it in subway without been in shame, but big enough to read street names without binoculars. Map also includes subway system, wich was great. Next trip I will leave my guidebooks to home and take this map and michelins guide to NY.

I first bought the 3rd edition several years ago when I went back to DC as a part-time museum intern. On my extremely limited budget, this handy book of maps proved indispensable both for me personally, and on the job during assignments as a fill-in concierge. One look at the well-worn cover and others recognized its usefulness as well.

Maps primarily focus on areas of interest for tourism, embassies, and the downtown business core including The Mall. The two maps of Metro (the subway) show the full metro area system and downtown, the latter of which is detailed enough to show the multiple entrances for each stop down to which side of street. New Yorkers are notorious for not being able to give directions. We know how to get there,just don't ask us for directions! This book gives specific address and phone #'s,subway maps and of course street locations (ie: cross streets for 1535 Broadway?It's in here).It is easy to use:shopping,restaurants,museums, movie theaters,houses of worship, etc; are classified according to uptown,downtown or midtown locales with numbered site maps. The size of the guide fits in a jacket pocket, or the newer,trendy horizontal sized purses ladies now carry.I've purchased my copy for use at my job.I may just change my rating to 5 stars

This book is a great size and very handy to carry in a bookbag or large pocket. The maps are easy to read and have the right info. However, the area covered is much smaller than I expected. I frequently find that the location I'm looking for is "off the map," especially for places that are in the Boston Metro Area, but not in Boston proper. The Cambridge map, for example, only covers about half of the city.
