I just got this last night and let me say, I cant put it down. It has so much info. If you like wine tasting , try these areas,,or hiking,try this region. It has lots of tips and is well written and going to be a great help when I make it to Italy. If you are looking for a good book to help narrow down areas you want to see like I was,this is the book for you.

We carried this book all over DC. The information was accurate and up-to- date. The recommendations were helpful. The book was well organized, and the information was easy to access. The map is OK, but we also purchased another map to have with us. I would recommend this book over the Unofficial Guide to Washington DC.

The three books we schlepped along were this Fodor's, the Streetwise San Francisco laminated map and the Golden Gate Trailblazer. Fodor's was very comprehensive and stayed in our room as a reference. It was light on walks and bike rides but that's where the Trailblazer came in.

The Fodor's guidebook has excellent restaurant reviews (one of the reasons we selected this destination). We whipped out the laminated map that we bought plenty of times, it would have been hard with the thick Fodor's. The 3 combined got us around the whole super beautiful area and provided the best sightseeing ideas. And what would San Francisco be without its fog? The aquarium in the Golden Gate Park wasn't open yet but will save that for next visit.

I have the Fodors book on France from 1993 (interestingly enough the same chateau on the cover! different angle though..) and the difference in 15 years is nothing short of amazing! The reviews, itineraries,maps, the explanations, the sidebars on wine-tasting, art, etc... in short, everything - has been embellished, polished, perked up, smoothed, increased dramatically and all to the good. Fodors used to be VERY good at reviews of hotels and dining but VERY short on historical interest and background. Well...not any more. This really is the only volume you will need when you go to France, and is a lot of fun to just go through if you are interested at all in the history, art, society and culture of the country - even if you are not planning a trip ... I used this book on my first trip to Paris,and it was a valuable resource to pick how to spend our time. The maps were also very helpful in getting around the maze that is the Paris streets.

FODOR'S MAINE COAST, 2ND EDITION is a great guide to everything you need to know about coastal Maine, whether it's shopping at the Maine Mall in South Portland, great outdoors-y stuff such as beaches, hiking, and seal watches, or important historical sites such as the home of Neal Dow, father of Prohibition. The only problem with this book is its failure to mention Bull Moose Music or any radio stations, but that's a minor quibble, as THE INSIDERS' GUIDE TO PORTLAND, MAINE and THE INSIDERS' GUIDE TO THE MAINE COAST cover those areas more than ably.

The book is great - all sorts of detailed information, tips, and maps. A must have for the Caribbean traveler. It gives detailed info on the best places to shop, eat, sleep, and relax. It's going with us on our next cruise, and we've already picked out some places to go. Thanks, Fodor's!

My only complaint is with Amazon.com. You shipped it to the wrong address and then ignored my email asking for help. My brother then shipped the book to me at his own expense...and you then ignored my email asking for reimbursement. Nicely done. And THIS is why I canceled my Amazon Prime membership. Caveat emptor, indeed.
