This is a great map! A fantastic combination with the in-car navigation. It definitely would not have been as easy to get around Scotland without it!

My husband, who has a fondness for detailed maps, absolutely adores this map of Ireland. Compared to the other ones we looked at, it was by far the largest and most detailed, showing the most towns and cities and roads on one map. Other maps only show you main cities and main roads and the color coding can be distracting. This map is clear and has a very extensive legend showing places of interest and historical sites.

We are using this map to plan our trip to Ireland. It's tacked up on the wall so as we look through travel guide books, we can find the locations on the big map and plan our driving trip accordingly.

As for using this map while actually in Ireland remains to be seen. I doubt the size will lend itself ... Read More:

We are just back from a trip which included London. As always, Michelin is the best at having handy maps of districts you are interested in exploring. And the size fits nicely in a coat pocket. But, as my wife said, the descriptions are not inspiring. I find the maps and portability matter while on a trip. But for planning, maybe something else might be better.

Very useful, succinct, well organized, helpful fold-out overview maps, extensive index, no "chattiness" to plow through.

The old Michelin Red Guides, which I first used in the late '60's for Italy, had detailed, tiny local maps throughout, detailed hotel ratings, and detailed restaurant ratings. Plus the edges were rounded to slip easily into a pocket and a travel-proof cover. This was no doubt too expensive a proposition to maintain, especially as to keeping the maps current. The modern Red guide is therefore a huge disappointment by comparison. I'd rather use Zagat for restaurant ratings and Google maps to find places. I won't need another Red Guide, thank you. The Green is still without peer, however...

Essentially, they've rearranged the former text, and that's really about it. More white space on the page, maybe a bit easier to read, but the earlier copy was quite legible.

Some sights, which were highly rated before, have been downrated with no explanation.
