This book is not trashing America, but revealing some of the tremendous influence that America holds within the world. The author is optimistic about the future of the nation. In years past, there was a sense of worship of the America dream in many nations, but with the "rise of the rest" there is increased nationalism within the world. Other nations are increasing in power and affluence. But as one reads the book, the author notes on numerous occasions the distance between America and the other nations. America's economy, education, and system is huge compared to the other nations of the world. I found this book to be very informative to say the least and actually, I think it could give hope to someone. There were times I thought it was more for another Psychologist, but it is mostly easy reading. I think a lot of people could find from this book that they may have the same types of problems described and know that there is help out there and hope. It's a book that should have been written.

I think Louise Hay has the right idea but the wrong message.
The 1st chapter titled 'What i believe' is just Louise noting her personal opinions which some readers may disagree with, i know i did and so did a couple of other people who read this book. I for one do not agree with a couple of her beliefs especially the belief about that fact that we chose our parents, no one chooses abusive parents. I'm shocked that Louise who has experienced abuse in her life would put such a damaging statement in her book.To say that we manifest everything in our lives with the thoughts we think is ridiculous. This book was extremely informative and very interesting. Some parts are a little slow but if you're driving down the road its easy to get lost in the discussion of various foods and how they succeed or fail based on their ingredients, big corporations, and government intervention.

Corn is a substance nearly incapable of growing without human intervention and is being used, regardless of health issues, in just about anything.

I was just curious to understand how randomness ruled our lives. Though i found the book giving several examples and combinations which explain the randomness at the end of it I was left a little confused as to what the book actually wanted to convey to an average reader like me who wants to understand this.
I found the book more technical and though it was explained in a normal manner I still could not get through each page without reading them several times. It takes time to sink in the matter and understand this book.
I would say its average because certain chapters were good but over all after finishing the book I still dont have my answersto randomness

very-very helpfull for clinicians with a subspesialty (rheumatology, nephrology, hematology etc) who need fast to have access on information such as the appropriate antibiotic and the first in line medication.

Mr. Gladwell is very talented. He certainly did his homework on this one. At the end of the book though I was left wondering, "Okay...so what is the conclusion?" The book came to a rather abrupt ending and I couldn't tell if the author was for or against snap judgments.

My biggest disappointment is that there was no warning regarding explicit language. I was listening to this work on CD with my young daughters in the car when all of a sudden he starts using profane words in an effort to quote others. Was it necessary to include such language?
