This book is a great read for people who like to travel but don't always have time to sit down and read for hours. Going through some of the lists gives me ideas on the next trip and makes me curious to learn more about the places or things listed.

National Geographic is well known by the quality of their maps & their awesome photography; and this travel guidebook it's no exception. It's very informative without being too in depth. The pictures makes you feel like you're there (in my opinion). This one can complement the Moon's guidebook which focus is just the opposite. Well put together. Highly recommended.

doesn't have enough indepth information, just simple references for the most part. thought I'd give it a try to compare to Footprints, Eyewitness, etc. It's more armchair reading than in-country helpful. Beautiful pictures, of course!

This has been a fabulous book. Better than I expected, which is crazy since Nat'l Geographic always puts out great stuff! I just didn't expect not only info. about the country, but also its history, popular tourist spots, maps, all kinds of stuff. we got alot more than what we expected for the money.

I'm traveling to Costa Rica and I'm interested in well-rounded traveling advice; this book had some pretty pictures but fell short of the necessities for planning a trip. It explored cultural, political and economical conditions of Costa Rica but didn't provide the details pertaining to areas of interest, hotels, restaurants or local perspectives - all things I find valuable before and while traveling. For instance, I'm flying into Liberia and need to book a hotel. Chris' book had less than 2 pages ( factual revealing, but not practical) on the city, didn't provide maps, hotel reviews or relevant information for getting down and dirty or just around town. Sorry for the slam brother - stick to the shutter.

i saw this book at a doctor's office and had a sufficient enough wait to be able to leaf through it. this is a 'must buy', chock full of fabulous tips. it passed my test when i found a couple of my 'where to go, what to do best kept secrets' inside. a great gift to your self or another.

This was a gift to my husband for Christmas because we are going to Alaska in a few months. I started reading it too and think it's fabulous! He has to keep taking it away from me. So many interesting things about Alaska in this book, 2 weeks there just isn't going to be enough.

This bookguide focuses on Turin, Piedmont, The Aosta Valley and Liguria.

It includes one walking tour of Turin's historic center and three driving tours: The Langhe Region, Lake Maggiore and The Aosta Valley. It also includes articles on interesting facts: Cafe Life, Fiat, Contemporary Art, The Slow-Food Movement, Truffels, The Gardens of Lake Maggiore and Giuseppe Mazzini.

I didn't give it 5 starts because I think it should've featured at least one more walking tour of Turin and maps of other cities (Aosta and Genoa for example). Besides, all the hotels listed are rather expensive, so this isn't a bookguide for those who travel on a budget.

In general, it's quite good, so I highly recommend it.
