This is a good detailed map to Tokyo - for once I didn't get completely lost. I wish I had had it on my first three visits when (among many other mis-steps),I spent hours confused on the subway where it is difficult to read station maps becasue of the serious crowds. Trust me you need your own so you can read it at your convenience. Too the architectural drawings of major buildings in different districts are a good visual aid when walking around. Tokyo is a difficult city alright and without a detailed map you are doomed.

Unless you want to carry around an encyclopedic street guide weighing five pounds this Street Wise is the one for you. For the casual or business traveler this compact laminated map is the best I've found....and ... Read More:

This would have been rated one notch higher if I had had it available while reading through the series. An avid fan would own this volume and follow along with the maps (curiously absent from the books and sorely missed by landlubbers such as myself).

Pair this with A Sea of Words: A Lexicon and Companion for Patrick O'Brian's Seafaring Tales on your reference shelf if you are a real O'Brian fan.

We've visited London more than 20 times over the last 10 years to visit family, and we still use the millenium edition we picked up in 1999 at a shop down in Soho. We take it out with us every day, and use it constantly. We always browse the guide books for new ideas when visiting, but when it comes to getting around the city with ease every day we resort to this book. The bus lnes and tube stations are clearly marked, the landmarks are useful, and we can always figure out how to get from place to place with ease. It's just the right size to carry, we find the A-Z is either too small to read or to thick to carry, and this guidebook has just enough extra info to make it more useful anyway. I read and saw this good atlas, here in Brazil.This book is big and has a good hard cover.Even the paper quality is excellent.This atlas is also almost complete.Every continent and contry is on it.There's maps with climate of every continent and country.All big cities are on it.Even there's information about Antartic bases and informations about the Moon and Mars planet.
Even so, I won't give five stars for this book.I'll show you some razons:
1-On page 63, there's an information claiming that China has the greatest hydroeletrical potential.In fact, China has the biggest hydroeletrical production.Brazil, not China has the biggest potential.
2-On page 55, the politicidies of Fidel Castro, Sandinist in Nicaragua and the colombian FARC are ... Read More:

The book was alot cheaper than the original cost right off the shelf which is why I'm not trying to complain too much. But I'm not sure if I just skipped over that section of the condition of the book, but there was water damage. I mean i guess that's no biggie, but I wish I was told and if I was..I definitely missed it. But It was coo!

This book is a treasure trove of information about the battles and the influence of the topography had on the outcome. A must read for any Civil War buff OR anyone who loves to look at old maps.

Hayes' "Historical Atlas of California" is a real treasure.
His book spans 500 years of the history of CA.
It is very readable and a "must have" for any student of historical geography. I strongly recommend it. It is well written and very well illustrated. A real find.
Anybody interested in California's past and future would be well advised to at least peruse this "coffee table" sized book.
It has a wealth of information and lots of rare maps.

The atlas continues to be excellent as in past years, but the cover lists a deceptive CD offer. The cover states that you can obtain an interactive CD for shipping and handling costs "expires 12/31/08". However, once you check the details inside the atlas (which you cannot read until you remove the shrink wrap), you find that the offer expired on May 30, and that Rand McNally has removed the page from their web site for fulfilling the offer.
