This eccentric English gentleman has a way of making the most mundane seem exciting and interesting. His 1938 jouney on foot through Northern England to Hadrians Wall allows you inside another generation. His views are indicative of his generation some of which we are better without, none the less you cannot help but admire this chap and his dreams and ability to get away from everyday dull life. .Notes from a Big Country City Travel Guides > Books > Books on Cassette by: Bill Bryson 1999-11 I recently finished Notes from a Small Island (which I thoroughly enjoyed), and was eager to dig into what I expected to be kind of an equivalent synopsis of life in America. I am very disappointed because it seems that Bryson spends most of the time pandering to the Brits who can never seem to find anything good to say about America. If things are really so dire over here, then why do they come in droves and never leave again? I was relieved when I finally reached a chapter in which Bryson's British wife points out that all he does is complain, and he finally got around to mentioning the friendliness of the American people. .Nepali for Trekkers: Language Tape and Phrase Book City Travel Guides > Books > Books on Cassette by: Stephen Bezruchka 1992-03 I am using the tape in my car to learn vocabulary and find the pronunciacion clear, and definitely useful as Nepali sounds are different enough from English that it is difficult to know how to read a word correctly.
