When I first purchased this book, it was for the simple purpose of trying to educate myself more on the concepts of how the millionaires create their success. While I was not disappointed in any way with the context, what surprised me was that many of the fundamentals written about how to attain prosperity are spiritually based. Robert has done a great job in explaining the "negative reality" his biological father had, as compared to his more trusting and "expecting success" friend's father. this book is very confusing and hard to understand. It is written from a scientific point of view. I used an exam simulation program at pmsimulation.com and passed the PMP exam. This worked so much better than studying from a book.

The Margin of Safety principle is probably the main thing to get from this book. The book gives many comparisons and instructive historical examples, but is a bit lacking in terms of actual advise on how to conduct an analysis, even though the book was supposedly aimed at the layman reader.

I would recommend browsing this book and focus mainly on the two chapters already recommended by Warren Buffett, namely the chapter about stock market fluctuations and the chapter about margin of safety. Concerning the overall philosophy of long-term investing I prefer Phil Fisher's book: Common Stocks and Uncommon profits.

I just finished this book today, and I absolutely loved it !!! I am actually buying more copies for my friends and family in sales, own their own business or have positive ambition :)

There are like 50 chapters with 3-5 pages each, kinda. It makes it easy to read a chapter or 2 at a time.

Having been hugely happy with Blink! I went out and purchased The Tipping Point almost right away. It, like most the other books I purchase, sat on a bookcase dedicated solely to books-yet-to-read until a few days ago. And now it shall be moved to its permanant home on a different bookcase. The point of all of this is that The Tipping Point is a well-researched, highly interesting, and unique book. The problem is that it, like Blink!, doesn't stick (see book for details). It's interesting but doesn't have the stickiness of most bestsellers, and is most certainly not something I would have watched the count down date for publishing like I'm doing with a few others. Good, but not great. Interesting, but not facinating. A 4, but not a 5.

This is the book I drag around everywhere, you can only read a few pages at a time because you need to think while digesting. the author is very knowledgable - sometimes too knowledgable, but that's a good thing, because he has a lot to say, a different point of view, a chip on his shoulder, intelligence to burn, a worldview bought to american shores, and he is conflicted about the class system - shrugging his shoulders at the suits, but flinging out big names here and there. No matter, it is worth the price of the book, because he stimulates thought. A sure sign of a good teacher, as well as tossing out more than a few investment strategies and his well-concieved notions about our financial system.
