.Italian Riviera, 2nd (Cadogan Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Cadogan by: Dana Facaros, Michael Pauls November 01, 2001 My wife and I bought all the guidebooks for the Italian Riviera and Liguria for our trip there March 02. The Cadogan guide was by far the best. The layout was easier to use and find info. The print was large enough to comfortably read while in the car going up and down the mountains. The historical capsules were brief yet informative. The pictures were few but good. After our first day or two, we dispensed with all the other guides and just used the Cadogan. BTW, Liguria (Italian Riviera) is far superior to the French Riviera (which is still a great place). Both have colorful histories and great scenery. .Bruges, 2nd (City Guides - Cadogan) City Travel Guides > Books > Cadogan by: Antony Mason December 01, 2005 This book gave an excellent overview of the history of Belgium and Bruges, and a nice overview of the main sites of the city. Furthermore, it's nice for someone only visiting Bruges that it only deals with that city. The small size makes it easy to shove in a pocket while touring. I have a couple of nitpicks. First of all, the statement that "In the summer Belgium is seven hours ahead of US Eastern Standard time" is technically true, but misleading. It's six hours ahead of EDT. .The Amazon: Including the Gran Sabana and the Pantatal (Cadogan Guides) City Travel Guides > Books > Cadogan by: Alex Robinson, Gardenia Robinson December 01, 2000 Although a little out of date this is still the best book on the area on the market. The flora and fauna section are comprehensive and written by professional botanists and biologists and this is the only book properly to cover areas like Manu, Tambopata and Noel Kempff. It is a shame it is not larger as there is much to cover - 9 countries and an area bigger than Australia. The previous reviewer is incorrect to say that there is no information on conservation or the pillaging of the Amazon by multi-nationals. This is all in the text either contextually or under the history section; which also spells out in detail the abuses wrought on indigenous peoples.
