This is a very competent work and a very useful tool for the potential buyer of property in Portugal. I like the way it is structured making it easy to find what you are looking for. It is difficult to think of something you want to know and is not there. There is an excellent section on "Settling In". The "Language" and the "References" sections are quite detailed with pratical guidance and extra sources of information. It is an excellent buy.

I took this book to Mexico with me recently and was amazed by how well researched and authoritative it still was despite having been written a decade ago. The sisters have a great insight into the country and a sense of humor to go with it. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in Mexico and its culture.

An excellent comprehensive description of major sights in these cities that is still brief enough that one can easily remember the highlights. The book is also light enough that one does not mind carrying it.

Every now and then one discovers a guidebook that is not just useful and comprehensive, but also beautifully written and truly insightful. Dana Facaros and Michael Pauls have written such a guidebook to Spain, a wonderful country wonderfully introduced and presented to a reader who would like to discover more than just the couple of most well known sights and places to visit.

Easy to use format, many useful maps. Information is broken down by neighborhood. The writing is very fresh and incisive. Judgmental, too, which is what I want in a guide book -- it gives you an opinion (sometimes) as to whether or not a museum or other site is worth visiting. Hotel listings are a bit skimpy and, in my edition, out of date, but I have other books for that.

I have purchased a one-way ticket to Sydney, Australia with plans to attend graduate school and possibly get a job in the country. This book, while extremely helpful, can be dry at times and is written primarily from the British perspective. However, when dealing with such exciting topics and taxation, bureaucracy and housing, one cannot expect the most spectacular prose and the British viewpoint can be easily circumvented with some careful reading.
