I have used this guide since published and it is an accurate overview of the many paddling opportunities in the Inland Northwest - Eastern Washington, North Idaho, Western Montana and even Canada. I had already tried many of the lakes and rivers but more were identified including some that I had never even considered in my 25 years in Spokane. Most of the paddles are appropriate for families. Put-ins and take-outs are well described. Great value that will save you time and money - even for the experienced paddler.

These are excellent walks for those on a time budget but who want to see more than the hoard from the latest coach tour. The scenery is so vast that walking further gains little benefit anyway, but it gets you out of the car park and to some breathtaking scenery and peace and quiet. In most cases with very little effort.

If you like photography and if you don't, it tells you the best time of day to see the sights - Use it to plan your holiday - you don't need anything else.

Easy to read, easy on the eye and not too big; the best guide to any area I've visited.

Good information, but a bit outdated. It refers to the "Blue Nose" as the boat from Bar Harbor, Maine instead of the CAT Ferry which has been around for several years. Other than that, the recommendations, etc. are good.

The Compass American Guide series is excellent and I found the guide on New Mexico to be a great resource. New Mexico has a rich history of native peoples and Spanish exploration and colonization. The guide offers a brief but useful history of the area, including the chaotic period of struggle between Mexican and Anglos before statehood.

The book has a separate section on Albuquerque and the surrounding environs; a section on Santa Fe and Taos and then the rest of the book is divided into 5 large geographic areas. This was especially useful on our trip where we spent 3 days in Albuquerque, 3 in Santa Fe/Taos and then spent the rest of the time going to more remote sites to explore this beautiful state.

Being a resident of the southeastern United States, I have traveled just a little in Canada. Since Canadian news and history seem to be mostly ignored in the U.S., I found BEAUTY TIPS FROM MOOSE JAW to be an enjoyable way for someone in my situation to find out about our neighbor to the north. Ferguson takes the country one province at a time, discussing people and places with often funny incidents, and weaving in a history background of each area. I must say, though, I did not find Ferguson to be as hilarious as some people do. I had never really read anything like this book before, but for some reason the story's unique setting, the Arctic, drew me in. The main character is so endearing, hard-working, honest, and lovable that you cheer for him throughout all his challenges and problems. He is a good example of how we could all learn from other cultures with respect and compassion. I was sad when I had finished because I wanted to know more about the rest of his life. Well worth your time and effort!!!!!
